Filen - Cloud Storage

I tried to move several files to Filen to save space on my phone and now the files have completely disappeared. They’re not even on my phone’s general storage anymore so it’s not recoverable. I’ve lost 1 hour and 30 minutes worth of videos. Wasted over an hour on the phone with apple and they said there was nothing I could do. Absolutely unacceptable and I am incredibly unhappy with this.

I couldn’t go past the security offered and cost of Filen when comparing to other cloud storage providers. I was using the free version for a while and it has been great experience! Company seems very transparent with nice frequent updates. Mobile experience is good too. I get decent speeds from Australia so I’ve since signed up for a bigger plan!

I love this service and the app is great. What I needed is to have more control over sharing file folders (containing PDFs and MP3s) than you can get with Google Drive or iCloud. This service works great for that! My only complaint is that the app struggles to load MP3 files to view in the app. However, the website interface does this no problem. Once that starts working in the app consistently, then this app will be worth all of the 5 stars available to rate with.

Coming from Android to iOS the app is basically the same in functionality and the service is great. I’ve just been waiting forever now for an in app video viewer without needing to download like you can with photos and stuff.

I’d give it 1 star but my phone is broken. I can’t login cause I can’t reset my password. I try to reset and they won’t send me the link. If you get too many failed attempts, they delete your info. If you don’t login, they delete your info. It’s a terrible app. I am not saving passcodes for top secret nuclear launch codes, why is security doing its best to keep me out of my own account? Dial it back a notch. Also I don’t like the layout, it’s difficult to find photos or videos you uploaded.

This review is for the Web Drive. Please fix the file viewing in web drive app. The Web App advertises "Smart Folders" but you cannot even navigate between them since the GUI is hidden by the IOS tab panes. Overall there is a lot of functionality but is hindered by GUI implementation.

Filen doesn’t work with VPNs….what?! Hope this is a glitch because of the update and not something that’s on purpose because this would be dumb

Last update broke uploading photos into the cloud. Unable to load albums page to upload. Useless app now, looking for alternatives.

What’s the point of encryption, password Protection, and locking everything in the app when the application creates a folder and saves it all right it plain sight, right in the Files app. That’s very bad for security. Even if you turn the thumbnails off, all offload content is still visible very easily in the files folder. I had high hopes for this up, maybe if you fix that and keep it all internally on the app, I’ll return. Until then I’m going back to SYNC
