Just wish i didn't have to pay to unlock more maps
This game lets you command troops, armor, mortars, artillery, and support vehicles in realistic WWII maps. The controls are simple, you designate a location for a unit to move to, but the mechanics are incredibly deep. It simulates soldier morale, ammo, exhaustion, and command structure. You act as the commander, while the soldiers on the battlefield make their own decision for taking cover, deploying ordinance, and individual movement. My only critique is that the matches take up to 45 minutes since it is realistically paced. I highly recommend this game if you like realistic WWII strategy games.
Canada would be fun to play
This is easily the best (and for me addictive) squad based game around - great detail and engrossing action. Constantly updated and improved. Simply first class.

Title says it all
Love this game to the point where I’m curious if it is possible for there to be a variant of the game set in other periods to be made in the future lol
Sure the game is cool looking and has a good concept, but you literally can’t play it without paying money. It’s 10 bucks for each map group and there’s 3. I would be fine if there was at least 3 mission besides the tutorial for the player to do, but there is nothing but the tutorial. Free but you can’t play without dropping at least 10 bucks.
Firefight receives constant attention and care and it shows! Personally I haven’t encountered many major bugs, and the small ones I have usually get fixed quickly. For being a top down RTS there is an astonishing amount of detail and realism from the soldiers, their command structures, the period correct weapons and modeled crews for tanks (they all have individual heart beats shown). I keep getting surprised after a year of playing this game on and off. The soldiers act accordingly as if it were a real firefight. Squads of infantry are implemented with a ranking system that identifies how proficient they are in battle. So German youth soldiers are poorly trained and disobedient; suppressive fire will practically scare the squad into not moving, as well as soldiers abandoning their post. “Elite” units like US rangers are much more coordinated, faster, and will still be effective even when some are injured. The level design is great, however the reason I give this 4/5 is because I believe this game is lacking a feature which would drastically improve the replay ability. A MAP EDITOR/CREATOR! I’ve always wanted to rotate maps simply to see what it’s like to play the other side. Or to dream big, an editor that allows you to brush terrain to make hills or even place buildings. Or even better, custom units. If something like that were possible I can see replay ability as far as the eye can see!
How i use custom
