FTL: Faster Than Light Reviews

Great Game, massive replayability

Mooniac on

Frankly, this about the only iPad game I still play because of the crazy cost of playing what are essentially remakes of old games with less playability, and constant attempts to force or irritate gamers into more in app purchases. Zero Bugs, Reasonably challenging on easy difficulty and very challenging on hard. I come back to this game every year.

Is this the greatest strategy game of all time?

MrTTop on

United States

It's definitely my favorite. Undoubtedly it is challenging, even on easy mode. It took me months to beat the boss the first time. But over time you adapt your strategy, you get better, the game unfolds new subtleties and scenarios. I find it endlessly replayable, with lots of variety with the different types of ships and multiple pathways to victory. I started playing this when my sons were very young -- they are teenagers now and the whole family plays this game (my wife and the boys play on their laptops). We have tournaments where we all play on the same ships and compare scores. I have played this game for thousands of hours and they have easily played for hundreds. One son wrote a 50+ page strategy guide for this game for a school writing assignment. It is hard, but stick with it, it is so rewarding!

Terrible

T.E.R.R.I.B.L.E. Ever know a person who likes to build someone up..just to tear them down? You know, the way a narcissist or a sociopath would? That’s this game in a nutshell.

Garbage

Most frustrating game ever on

United States

Utter piece of trash game.

I hate developers like this.

DevlinMcBain on

This game is a punishing rarely rewarding game made by commies to push the nihilistic uncaring masochism in players and to feed their sadistic veil of just how simplisticy short and limited the game is by being ‘random’ in the way that you always miss, you always get ambushed and crippled and have to fight at a tenth of your power negating all your hard earned bonuses, you never get good weapons when you need them, game always seems to hit and hull breach with weapons that if you where using them you wouldn’t even get past the shields, and the boss is so cheesy powerful that you have to fight it three times, each time it becomes more ridiculously rage inducing to fight. Clearly a game made by nihilistic Cossacks.

Years worth of fun

Totally worth it. I’ve been playing this game for years. I keep coming back to it despite having gotten about 90% of the achievements. I wish they still made content or expansions. But between this and Into the Breach, I have really enjoyed my time with this studio.

Best game

I dunno what to say other than this is the best game. I love it.

FTL is amazing!

BogJuan on

FTL has been my most played game on the iPad by far. Every time I travel I log in and play many many games. I have unlocked so much. Which is why it was upsetting when I purchased a new iPad, logged in to my account, played with a late game ship, and then it reset everything (except that game). So now I only have access to the base ship like it’s 8 years ago. Although in my stats it shows the play with the advanced ship. I’m afraid I will never have access to my stats and ships again.

If you know what it is you’ll like it

undef_string on

The controls are just too cramped and unintuitive for me. This game is clearly old and needs to be modernized. But it functions well, just isn’t for me. If you like this kind of thing and can get your head around the controls, you’ll like it.

One of the best games of all time

JesterFool on

United States

Like the title says, this is one of the best games of all time. I’ve played this game for years. I’ll play a ton for a few weeks then stop for a few months. Rinse and repeat. No matter how many times I play it is always a challenge. This is a very rare gem that just never gets old. I just wish there was a second game!
