In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
Key Features:
- Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle.
- Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders.
- Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of seven diverse alien races.
- Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions.
- Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same.
- Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action.

FTL: Faster Than Light Reviews
10/10 if you like strategy
I’ve been playing this game on and off for 3 years on my iPad. It doesn’t take longer to understand the controls. Once you do, you can slowly unravel the game mechanics. I’m still being surprised and learning more nuances in the game. I’m working through the challenging achievements still and enjoying replaying the game but in different ships (which makes the game unfold differently every time.)
The best sent money on any app, ever. Highly recommend if you enjoy strategy and sinking your teeth into a game!
*Fails to hit an enemy ship 5 times in a row
Me: "HOW COULD YOU MISS?"
Weapons operator: "It moved!"
Great Game.
FTL was exactly what I was looking for. Finally a good, fun strategy game on the IPad. Yes, the graphics aren't the best but I think that it's current art style suites the game. In FTL, you captain your own spaceship. The information you hold is vital to the remaining federation fleet, and you must get to the federation base before the rebels catch you. The game is split into eight sectors, each with more beacons that you can visit. You can upgrade your ships existing systems, or buy more systems and augments for your ship. You can also choose which ship you use, and buy weapons/drones for offensive or defensive purposes.
All and all, this is a great game. I would recommend it to all space lovers.
Excellent port
All the features of the pc game are brought to the iPad with great touch controls and UI. One of my favourite games. A stressful joy to play
Really fun
I thought this game was really fun and worth the money, The controls are a bit confusing at the start but it gets easier, overall it's a great game really fun. I don't know what the haters are talking about I found the game easy, fun and it does auto save.
Terrible game
IF YOU PUT AN EASY MODE IN MAKE IT SO ITS EASY YOU DUMB ARSES!!!!! ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLOCK ANYTHING, A RUBBISH TUTORIAL AND OVERALL TERRIBLE GAME
Annoying disappointment
I was really looking forward to this game, I had heard great things from friends who share the same taste. But man is this thing frustrating in a bad way. Some games should just stay on the PC. Confusing controls and game mechanics, also no saving? That's ok for casual games but Ftl is hardcore nerd fodder, it encourages you to grow attached to your ship and crew but you have to start from scratch each time, so why even allow players to name things when they have to redo the whole process ten minutes later. Yes I did the tutorial. Just very unimpressed and disappointed, perhaps bitter.
Awesome but...
This game is probably one of the best games I've played all year but, It would be great if you made a version of it that you weren't getting chased by people and you could just explore space and come across enemys and friendly ships with the shops. I just don't like the fact that your getting chased
Lower the f#%^€ ships sheld prices
You should have the scrap count reduced when it comes to shields and upgrading them.
