App did not work, to much “style” over substance, “manual” no help at all, not sure if app is just complete rubbish or if the HDMI device I bought is faulty, because the app does not indicate or acknowledge if anything is connected. Tip for developers - lose the annoying intro to the manual, and the silly gimmicks, and have the manual contain actual useful information like what to check if it does not work.
My 1st test was with my laptop in Photoshop and Premiere Pro. If you’re using the iPad as just a display it’s fine, but if you try and work from that display the lag is just too much! 2nd Test was with the Nintendo Switch. Again the lag was just too much to play anything for a long period of time! I thought maybe it was just the cheap £12 3ft hdmi cable that I’d brought, but after trying a couple of other apps that do the same the lag on those was tiny! It’s a shame as the this app is nicely presented. To the developer. Why is the lag so bad? Is this something you’ll fix?
I bought, and received confirmation of purchase, but when I open the app it keeps asking me to upgrade. If I try to restore purchase it does not work.
Half the time it doesn’t recognise that there is an input, and I don’t know how much the AI is actually doing to upscale my Switch input
Excellent and beautiful. It’s for a niche but if you’re in that niche, Orion is an absolute delight.
Terrible interface. Worked briefly using a Guermok HDMI to USB C Dongle until I paid for the upgrade, then it stopped working.
It did not work for me.
Orion promised a lot, but it's a massive disappointment. I bought the suggested HDMI dongle and expected a seamless experience, but instead, I got unbearable input lag, annoying screen tearing, and absolutely no sound with my video inputs. To add to the frustration, despite the promotional images and demo video showing full-screen content, everything is displayed in a heavily letterboxed format. Even classic 4:3 aspect ratio games like NES, SNES, and PS1 are reduced to a tiny box on the screen. The CRT filters, while a nice addition, suffer from an overwhelming rainbow effect that's more distracting than nostalgic. It's an eyesore. On top of that, the 4K upscale feature is so subtle that you won't even notice a difference when toggling it on and off. It's another letdown when you expect a noticeable enhancement.
A fantastic app that works perfectly for using your iPad as a secondary display. I currently use it alongside my main monitor for my PC and as an external display for my camera to help line up my shots. I did buy the optional upgrade but that was to help the development team and to hopefully lead to further updates (but I’m happy with the app as is)
