Terrible service

No one values GP’s in exchange for time in their homes and mont owners don’t respond. I let different groups stay at our condo for GP’s but there is no value to them.

Terrible

I contacted dozens of people for an exchange and they would not never except the exchange despite showing my dates as available. What a waste of time. Then I cancelled the membership and Home Exchange proceeded to charge me twice in one month!! I filled out their contact form and they emailed me saying they couldn’t find my account. I log in and shows my account as inactive. So I got charged twice for an inactive account!! Absolutely terrible!!

Rescued !!!

We had a finalized exchange cancelled a couple of weeks before due. The exchanged placed a dozen or more queries for a replacement. Fortunately we located a replacement from the large number of members in our destination city. So it ended up very well in the end.

Positive experiences

This is a great way to travel around the world like a local. I enjoy playing host in my home to people from all continents. I wish the app had better features to be able to sort incoming messages from those interested in visiting my home by destination, etc. so I can search for them later.

Has gone down

Before the site was bought out by home exchange we had so many inquiries. It stayed OK for awhile. Now they charge per year and I hardly ever get inquiries, and other petiole won't book for points which makes half the system moot. Maybe there is an algorithm working against us. Hoping it gets better because we really enjoy.

It’s a no for me. Airbnb better.

Wanted to like this but it’s just not easy at all. Perhaps because I live in Europe— and people are very interested in my place HOWEVER never at the same time and then you try the guest points only to discover you’ll never get to use them!! 90% of users don’t want. Maybe more. You've been warned.

Gone from Great to worst

I used to love HomeExchange, unfortunately they have gone from good to worst. Their support gives standard answers to common problems, and modus operandi is nothing but no respondí. Of course, every software has problems. Something is broken between support-management-development. No issue has been fixed since COVID. Hope they fix all problems, especially between the hosts and guests. Until then they don’t deserve even one single star.

Hate to say it— terrible support team and experience

I tried everything to find a stay and was rejected repeatedly with guest points. No timing aligned for when my home was available for when and where I needed to travel so I always tried to book with Guest Points. After a year of trying I asked for my money-back guarantee. The staff emailed and said my second year would be free. I agreed and carried on— hoping to find an exchange. Finally I did for a work trip. I was charged instantly for the second “free” year! I got the same repeated pasted response from my requests to support team. Only emails that take days to receive. NO PHONE CALLS. No humans to help. Just claims I only requested 10 stays and that I therefore don’t get the second year free. I can see all my requested and denied houses in the app! Still— no human to answer to. Money removed from my account. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS

Horrible customer support disaster

Horrible I emailed the SOS line for help with an exchange and they cancelled my exchange without asking me and then did not return my points. Also most of the users on the site are looking to get something for nothing. You get lots of emails from some one room dump in a country you might like to visit or endless emails from some obscure European county you have no interest in visiting. We did one good exchange in Italy in 2018 since then no one has contacted us with anything of quality. Travel around the world to beautiful homes for free? If it sounds too good go be true it probably is.
