Os computadores comerciais da HP, equipados com o recurso HP Sure Admin, podem gerenciar o acesso ao firmware usando segurança baseada em um par de chave pública/privada. Esse recurso fornece maior segurança do que uma solução típica baseada em senha. Embora esse recurso seja integrado quando um administrador estiver gerenciando o firmware remotamente, há casos em que pessoas (ou usuários) locais de TI precisam autenticar suas identidades no firmware (por exemplo, para acessar a configuração do BIOS F10). Nesses casos de uso, o firmware exibirá um código QR, que a pessoa local de TI pode digitalizar com o aplicativo HP Sure Admin Mobile para gerar um PIN único, que pode ser inserido no firmware para autenticação do usuário.
