PC-urile comerciale HP dotate cu caracteristica HP Sure Admin pot gestiona accesul la firmware folosind securitatea bazată pe perechi de chei publică/privată. Această caracteristică oferă o securitate sporită faţă de soluţiile pe bază de parolă standard. Deşi caracteristica funcţionează fără probleme atunci când un administrator gestionează firmware de la distanţă, există situaţii în care membrii echipei IT locale (sau utilizatorii) trebuie să se autentifice pe firmware (de exemplu, să acceseze configuraţia BIOS F10). În astfel de cazuri de utilizare, firmware-ul va afişa un cod QR, pe care membrul echipei IT îl poate scana folosind aplicaţia mobilă HP Sure Admin Mobile pentru a genera un cod PIN unic ce poate fi introdus pe firmware pentru autentificarea utilizatorului.
