Description

Joplin is an open source note taking and to-do application, which can handle a large number of notes organised into notebooks. The notes are searchable, can be copied, tagged and modified. Images and other files can be attached to notes. The iOS application supports markdown rendering.

The notes can be synchronised with your other devices via Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive or Joplin Cloud. Joplin is also available for Windows, macOS and Linux and all can synchronise with each others so your notes can be available on your mobile phone, computer, tablet, etc. Please see the official website for the list of available applications: https://joplinapp.org

The desktop applications can be used to import notes from Evernote via .enex files, including the formatted content (which is converted to markdown), resources (images, attachments, etc.) and complete metadata (geolocation, updated time, created time, etc.). These imported notes can then be synchronised with the iOS app.

End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is supported and will encrypt the complete data, including notes, notebooks and attachments.

Encrypted syncing across iPhone and Windows

Works perfectly with Nextcloud. Easy setup.

Dangerously broken sync

If I have a version of a document saved to cloud (dropbox) eg with laptop, and then open my phone and start writing on an old version of the same doc before it syncs with cloud, it will upon syncing overwrite the cloud version with the phone old version, while putting the phone’s old version to the conflicts folder as well. End result: two copies of phone’s old version of the document, one in cloud, one in phone conflicts, while the cloud/laptop version is completely destroyed. NEVER f up a backup this bad! I’ve managed to not lose important data due to this yet as I noticed the problem first with minor changes, but a couple of close calls only saved by fast copypasting before overwriting happened have made me super anxious. Fix this!!!!

Great notetaking app

Great open source note taking app if you look for an alternative to Evernote, for example.

sync is broken

Doesn't sync because of expired SSL in the app and iOS version doesn't have option to ignore SSL errors.
