There can’t be anyone nicer to learn with, but sadly the app has too many issues. Scales, chord practice etc are just not set up for coherent learning. No proper instructions, some listen to your guitar (unreliably) while others don’t at all. Too frustrating. I’m sure things will develop but it seems like an early stage of development. I’m glad I didn’t subscribe.
Had a guitar for my 30th. Never got round to really giving it a go. A decade later I am So glad I found Justin’s website and app. I am loving it.
I cannot praise the app enough for teaching and learning but the practice elements, notably 1 minute chord changes is, poor. The issue is the app takes an age to recognise the tone so does not count smoothly or accurately. Rather important your practicing as many changes as possible within a minute. But that is the only issue or complaint I have, everything else is outstanding.
No idea how this has made its way into the Apple iTunes library since basic login, the opening page, is completely inaccessible for Blind VoiceOver uses! Justin Guitar website is wonderful, full of brilliant content, but everything is beyond an inaccessible barrier for me as a blind iOS user. Please developers, fix your app to allow me a chance of using some of the Justin Guitar content.
Justin – as a totally blind guitar player, I have benefited very much from your YouTube videos because in general you don't just show your audience what you are doing, you also tell them. This is very helpful to those of us who are totally blind or low vision and cannot see the screen. however, your app on my iPhone 14 running iOS 17, is not accessible using Apple's built-in screen reader called VoiceOver. Many blind and low vision users of computing and smartphone technology rely on screen reading software to give them access to the world that is readily available to their cited peers. And so when we find websites or apps in App Store that are not accessible, we have to call this out, because which ever way you look at it it is discriminatory and keeps us at a disadvantage. I hope you will receive this in the spirit it is sent, and that you will do what you can to make your app accessible for all. Andy C
3 rd time I have started the beginners course but this time I paid for the app. Early days but I do feel more progress in 2 weeks than previously achieved in 3 months and the variety and structure keeps it being fun.
this is an amazing app that got me into practicing guitar again, along with really helpful, lively and friendly videos from Justin. had it in the trial version and was really happy. the only setback that has me hesitant for the full price subscription (and thus only 4 stars out of 5) is that it lacks the amazing practice assistant / routine builder that Justin has it on his website. it would be really great if you could add the same one as a functionality of the app too, thanks!
Yes go and buy it you’re not wasting your money
Like the style. Easy to follow, encouragement to get on and play those songs. Timing, Strumming, chord tricks that make sense and help with those fast changes, and make you think and work out your own fast changes. Like it. Thanks.
I like everything about this app and in the two years I have been following the lessons and undertaking my guitar journey it has been a great companion. The lessons are well structured and Justin come across as a professional and enthusiastic tutor. The songs and the backing tracks are the icing on the cake and provide the fun element required to enhance the practice sessions. Keep up the good work Musopia.
