Looks like a nice app, and just what I need. But sync doesn't work reliably for me. I contacted the developer, and was helpful at first, but then stopped replying to me. So I no longer use the app, which is a shame. If you can't rely on items you add syncing reliably then you can't trust it with your data.
So Good - So Reliable
Great app found it after moving from Evernote then Onenote and then then Apple Notes and Finally found this app… intuitive, reliable and always look to constantly improve. iOS iPadOS and Mac. Lovely…
Excellent Devon Think replacement
I was looking to completely replace the bloated behemoth Devon Think Pro and after a lot of searching and trial, Keep It came out on top. It is really well thought out and the IPad app is way better than DT, which I now see is a mess.
The list view navigation focus buttons are a neat idea. Also support is better. Keep It has much better rationalisation of text documents than DT, which again is a mess. Converting to Keep It’s native Notes format has cleaned up years of DT’s baffling system.
Migrating from DT to Keep It was a breeze.
And finally Keep It’s database is not proprietary. A big tick.
Perfect Knowledge Organiser!
A less expensive, and more elegant alternative to DEVONthink.
Superb app
I use this as an extremely advanced Files app - it does everything the native Files app does but so much more - I particularly appreciate the tagging, OCR and bundle features. it plays very nicely with the iOS system and adopts all the latest technologies.
There’s no owning of your data either, which gives piece of mind. Any document you add to or create in Keep It is accessible at system level through the Files app.
The developer is also very responsive - I contacted him regarding a very minor url bug and an update was pushed out within a couple of days.
Hard to find anything to gripe about but I wish it were possible to create folders from any screen, rather than the main list only.
It’s undoubted abilities overshadowed by instability
There’s a lot of good things to say about KeepIt. I had a large magazine collection I was scanning and I wanted to be able to import those into an app and be able to use the OCR and reference search terms.
The OCR is incredibly quick and the functionality is exactly what I was looking for, however the experience is devalued by the ever-regular crashes I suffer while performing searches, clicking through search terms etc. Having just spent around 20 minutes in the app I suffered perhaps 10 crashes.
Now perhaps this is a memory issue as the overall size of my scan collection from my iCloud Drive is 50gb, but I do have the newest iPad Pro and have read nothing about any sort of theoretical size ceiling on indexed files.
So great potential and all, but I’ll be keeping my eye open for a more stable alternative.
Excellent - IOS and Mac
Been using Keep It for some months now. Both Mac and IOS implementations are working well together.
Managing nearly 3000 pdf documents, most imported from existing file / folder structure set up on the Mac. More recently, many have been pulled from the web using Keep It, on either Mac or iPad.
The original (and growing) folder hierarchy helps to visualise and keep things structured for my needs; however I often search the whole ‘database’ using the “All Items” approach and distil down from there.
No real issues, each update seems to improve versatility or usability.
Communication with the developer was fast and efficient, solving an issue which was in fact nothing to do with the app, just my naivety wrt the update process?! Excellent so far.
Buggy enough to write this review
I’ve just started a PhD and am desperately looking for a reference manager and note taker. I’ve been testing them all and keep coming back to this one as it seems to be highly rated amongst reviewers and users.
Every time I come back to have another go at using this app it freezes or stutters within minutes.
I’m deleting this app for the last time.
Good functionalities but crashes a lot
I’m looking for an alternative to DEVONthink.
Keep It Mobile looks great and has almost all the functionalities I want. Despite that I do not want to rent any software, I decided to give it a try. But it constantly crashes on my iPad Pro, which makes it completely unusable.
Simple and Powerful
A great app, getting better all the time, I will add the 5th star when I can email stuff into Keep It. It holds all my personal records, home warranties, receipts, manuals, medical records and the like. It's easy and fast to retrieve and share any info.
