KEF Control

I realise there are a lot of negative reviews on here but in my experience everything worked fine on first go. The missing star is due to a step which the in-app setup steps doesn’t mention. That being that once your speaker is powered up, you need to head to your wifi settings on your phone and wait for the KEF wifi network to appear, then connect to this. Then head back to the setup app and try to connect to your speaker. Once I realised that everything worked fine. Also, if your speakers have previously been set up, make sure to hold that reset button for 3 seconds to wipe the previous settings and allow it to be set up again (mine are KEF LSX - first generation)

App is so buggy

This is the worst app I’ve ever had the misfortune to use. Totally destroys a good speaker with a shoddy app that spends more time disconnected than connected

the most expensive paper weight you will ever buy. nothing works. nothing connects. just a whole load of nothing.

For £1000 speakers this app is not fit for purpose. Wish I had never bought these now. Certainly won’t buy Kef again!

The only thing more unresponsive than this application is KEF completely ignoring how bad this application is. For the price of these speakers, you’d think they could get the app right. But now with the release of the LSX 2’s they have completely left behind the people who bought the first gen speakers. This will absolutely be the first and last purchase from these guys.

Technically it’s what I wanted for my next Hi-Fi system, wireless and Bluetooth. Does it work? When it works it’s great. The problem is that it consistently doesn’t work. The app is really dreadful and whenever I come to use it, nothing works. I have to delete the app, reload it and start everything again from scratch. Very, very frustrating! Is the support from KEF good? When you can get hold of them, or if they respond. But frequently they don’t. Would I buy this system again? Knowing what I know now, no!

This app is so bad it’s completely put me off KEF. The lack of any controls on the speaker makes the situation so much worse… Worst of all I know my crazy expensive speakers are doomed because KEF has moved on a left them with this usable app. I’m genuinely angry to have spend money with this company.

I have two pairs of LSX in different rooms and have no issues with controlling them with this app. Everything works as expected. It's not great though. Everything is slow and clunky, so having set up the basics, I just use the app to switch speakers on and change sources. What is great is that it switches on these amazing speakers without needing to find the remote - which I have no idea where it is. I don't use the other KEF apps so this is only a review of KEF Control.

Every time they put a firmware update out it breaks my lsx speakers. The connection goes, they won’t connect to the Wi-Fi network. So I have to reset the connection, which take ages because I have to repeat it a million times until the speakers are actually found by the app. Literally writing this review having reset, unplugged, plugged back in, searched about 10 times, with minute gaps between most steps. Firm one star for this app. When the speakers work they’re great.
