Good at first…

I was having a hard time learning the Japanese symbols from the other apps I downloaded so I kept downloading more until I found this one. For the first two lessons I was very surprised on how easy it was to learn the characters. I was excited that I finally found a good app to use for Japanese characters. This was until I got to lesson three and it was locked. I was confused so I clicked on the lesson and a transaction popped up. I was mad because only two lessons in and I already have to pay for something. If you plan on buying the premium it would probably work but I refuse to pay for it.

BEWARE

I’m writing this review with extreme disappointment. I paid for the app and now when I open it, I STILL get a blank screen and the lessons will not show up. I wrote “STILL” because I expressed my concerns months ago, so I expected the problem to be solved. I also don’t appreciate the fact that you guys never responded back when I told you what was going on; you sent one email and just stopped communicating. You never fixed the problem, and I will never be purchasing from any of your apps ever again. If you’re reading this, and thinking about purchasing, DON’T. I highly advise you to take your money elsewhere. Have a wonderful day.

Definitely the best app for this

I love this app. It’s made learning Japanese so much easier than I expected. The lesson review feature makes a big difference. I wanted to give the app five stars, but there are a few bugs that really do make a few things challenging. 1. There’s a feedback button and form available through the settings in each level. The form does not appear to work. This is a big deal, because it makes reporting bugs a challenge. When it comes to learning a language, a bug in the way the app teaches you, means you’re learning wrong. I also tried the App Support link here in the App Store but the website is broken—so I’ve resolved to writing a review with these bugs. 2. The audio for learning “library” (としょかん) is incorrect. It says “toshiyokan” instead of “toshokan.” Thankfully, since I’ve already mastered hiragana at this point, I was able to see the use of the small よ next to the し. I still had to look it up to verify, that part wasn’t the issue. 3. The app teaches あの for “um…” but then also teaches あの for “that.” Both are correct of course, but after teaching “that,” all of the review lessons ask for “um…” and never “that.” This meant that I kind of just had to remember that it also means “that” the first time. It’s still a great app, and I will continue to use it, but it would be great to have these bugs fixed—especially the feedback form.

Great so far

The lessons are great! I go through it several times to cement it to memory. The lessons really help you memorize the characters. The voice is easy to follow as well.

Not working anymore

I bought this app a while ago when I was barely learning Japanese, I wanted to use the app again to practice, but now nothing pops up and like another reviewer mentioned there is ) No update available. The only reason I rated so low was because it doesn’t work anymore, but it used to be a great app and I would have given it a 5 star.

Just started but I already totally love how simple and fun it’s been so far
