The new update is absolute garbage and makes it really hard to track your meals!
I have been a long time user of this app (for about 5 years) and have paid for the premium subscription for a large majority of that time. The most recent update completely changed how this app works and made tracking far more confusing and difficult. The replacement of searching the database of foods with an AI chat bot is the worst of the new additions. Instead of being able to visually see what options (in the search function) most accurately represent the macro-nutrients of whatever food I am attempting to find, now an AI just spits out whatever it THINKS you want. After the 5 years of paid subscription and use I have now canceled said subscription and will be looking to use other apps for my food tracking. I sincerely hope that this recent change is reversed.
I loved this app. I loved the amount of insight it provided into my health and nutrition. I loved the tracking abilities as they were, but with this new update — I can’t opt out of using AI (which interferes with my ability to adjust and control my tracking clearly). I’m very unhappy and annoyed. Allow me to choose if I want to engage with AI or not, please.
If you’re going to use this app, I recommend switching back to the old interface under Diary Settings. I almost switched apps entirely before finding the option to revert back to the previous version. The new multimodal tracking features are unreliable, take too long, and often ask for additional information only to render mildly accurate results. The old interface is far more organized and user intuitive. The search bar and barcode scanner make it quick and easy to find exactly what I’m looking for without the hassle of trying to correct the AI’s guesswork.
I used to love this app. I paid for the premium version but now I’ve cancelled my subscription. This multimodal update has obliterated all fine control you have over your food diary. You could review your foods before logging them to make sure the calories made sense, but now you have to hope that the app understands what your saying (which it doesn’t half the time), and that the calories and macros it chooses for you are accurate. Safe to say I’ll be checking out Macrofactor or My Fitness Pal next.
Unless you return the old view and functionality (especially the ability to track food manually, adjusting grams/ml, having meals grouped by breakfast/lunch/ dinner etc) I am going to unsubscribe from Premium and uninstall the app.
After over two years of using this app, I’m seriously considering switching to an alternative. The latest update, meant to simplify meal selection with AI, has done the opposite. It’s now far less user-friendly, the AI search is unreliable, and it feels overly intrusive with personal data. A once-great tool has become frustrating to use.
Been using lifesum for years on and off now. I especially liked to be able to make the recipes and calculate how much servings are. EXCEPT I HATE THE LATEST UPDATE HATE HATE HATE. So complicated to add food to your day and they’re not under breakfast, lunch etc. even just adding an avocado I have to go through the AI??? The picture option can be good for going to the restaurant but it’s crazy inaccurate.
I’ve been using this app since 2017, and paid for the premium subscription. You could always track, measure, or plan for the next meal. By applying AI in the latest version and removing “breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack” buttons, making it so freaking difficult to use. I do embrace new technologies, and I use AI in my daily life as well. However, I gotta say this new update is the worst choice I’ve ever seen in the app update. Cancelled the subscription, if the next update is still the garbage, delete it with no doubts
This is terrible. Half the time the text and voice functions don’t work. It was easier to log food before the old way.
