Lifesum Food & Calorie Tracker Reviews

Ruined it with update

liljumpreview on

United States

I feel the app lost its simplicity after the update.

Why Do Companies Have to Mess with a Good Thing???

Emibim on

United States

The app use to be great. You could easily search for a food entry by typing or scanning a barcode. Easy. ALL of my favorites were saved and simple to find. That’s all gone now. I can’t even find a way to simply search for a food. This app is pointless for me now. I used it as a tool when I was adjusting my macros & meal plan too to tweak my food amounts to hit my numbers before implementing a new meal plan b/c it made it easy to tweak foods until I got it where I needed & then I made my grocery list from that. Why can’t I just search for a food by tying in a name now? Why did you over complicate the app with “tech”? Give ppl who paid, the option to go back to utilizing the old format. I can’t even access my entries prior to December. It’s like you guys wiped the servers prior to the change. I’ll no longer support this app as it is no longer of the stellar quality it used to be to be. How unfortunate… and I’m clearly not the only one. I never leave reviews for phone apps, but this was just too disappointing not too.

Turn off the AI

TomNel85 on

United States

I’ve used Lifesum for months. The recent changes to the app are terrible. The app is still awesome if you turn off the AI.

Widgets not working

SebasSebastian99 on

United States

I’ve been using this app for a long time. Everything was perfect, the last update, the app is acting up. Before My widgets should show my status but after the update they are blank.

Worthless - AI update broke everything

wordyeti on

United States

This stupid update broke everything useful about the app. It cannot log something as simple as “whole wheat toast.” Idiotic AI features DO NOT WORK. Save your money.

Wrecked

BruceDC on

United States

Dec 2024 update wrecked a good app. Can’t even enter items by weight only by servings. Who approved this update? Do you even understand your users?

Uninstalled

Longtimeruser2025 on

United States

The new updated ruined the app for me. I could not just log an item. Using AI to make it easier to log food is an awful experience.

New Update

Gelly16 on

United States

The new update ruined this app. Can we get the old interface back? This is much harder to use and honestly has less information.

I'm glad they made the AI UI optional

gtallsf2019 on

United States

Almost abandoned this app because the new UI was frustrating to use. I'm glad they made it optional so I can go back to the old input method.

Merge the tracking methods…

Fury12345 on

United States

The new AI method is cool, and it ends there. It makes no sense to me why the old method (clearly organized by breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) cannot be used with the new multimodal approach. Why can’t I use the photo feature and cleanly track with the old layout? Once that is fixed, back to five stars. Right now, this is a good example of “what if we used AI and took out everything else helpful”. Is this a beta? The new multi method doesn’t let you add food manually easily (favorites and recents impossible to find and add quickly) which is far more common in my use. Tried taking a photo of an egg sandwich and it shorted the bread calories by 35% and thought there was one egg instead of three. Failure. Couldn’t get a two ingredient sandwich right. I do think this is useful when you cook something or eat out and don’t know how to track and just need a guess, that’s the ideal use case for this, not as the primary way to track. That is a game changer, as I often fall behind in tracking in restaurant situations. Also, All the food just ends up in one long list instead of cleanly organized and requires timely completion of tracking (rather than flexibility to add at the end of the day). The font looks like back end code garbage. Please MERGE this feature with the old layout. I should be able to click breakfast, add, and then take a photo or click on recent/favorites. Then this will be a great addition to the app, just not as an entirely different tracking method. It’s cool, but not yet usefully optimized.
