Good service but needs some fixes

I am a grad student with ADHD and a good screen reader is a must for me. Listening has been an improvement in many ways compared to the free chrome extension I was using previously. Things I like: - it skips citations - the text is highlighted where it is being read from making it easy to follow along - the voices sound okay - the mobile app means I can listen on the go Things that need to be fixed: - when I use the web version on my computer I get frequently kicked back to the log-in page (multiple times per day) - note taking: I would like to be able to type notes and annotate the readings (highlight in different colours) - the tagging system doesn’t work. When I make a tag I have no way of searching for it or finding it again. It is not how it has been advertised. I would like a folder system to be added or fix the tagging system. I would like to be able to organize my files as I have a lot of them. - I have to turn dark mode back on every few days - sometimes the part being read aloud doesn’t match up with the highlighted text - the free trial is only 3 days (seriously???) Overall this service is useful for me and I don’t regret trying it out. However the sheer number of bugs and things that don’t work is astounding for the price. I wouldn’t recommend getting this app until these bugs are fixed. I would expect this amount of bugs in an app in its beta stages. Seriously, I want to like this app, so please fix these bugs asap.

Good app but issues

They say you can change voice but its always the same man’s voice. Glitches with downloads.

Too Many Errors

Ngbsells on

Canada

There are too many errors in the text-to-speech conversion that makes listening to the audio inaccessible, which defeats the purpose of the app.

Awful

Brit888 on

Too expensive and extremely robotic sounding. Also, this app has lots of bugs causing the screen to freeze. There are much better apps, such as natural reader.

Better than user adobe to read pdfs but price…

Pros: -different voices and speeds -make notes directly in the app -can use on desktop or mobile -really helpful because it skips over notes, citations etc. Con: -a product geared towards students shouldn’t be this expensive. -sometimes files get chopped. Paragraphs go missing, you have to skip around. -the separation by chapter isn’t really helpful, should have the option to make it all one solid text and be able to mark where in the audio you left off

Deteriorating experience

I really enjoyed this app when I first downloaded it. It had a relatively expensive subscription fee but I thought it worth it. Now, it requires a login and I can’t get into the app without agreeing to an annual subscription. I already subscribe! I also can’t access support for the app. I feel caught in a loop and will be unsubscribing unless it can be quickly fixed.

Not ready yet. Full of bugs!

It jumps between chapters. Can’t handle long chapters. Terrible with formulas!

Not as good as Bing

I uploaded a few papers for reading. I did want this to work, but unfortunately, it is not good enough. It mispronounces multiple words including ‘analysis’ ‘100’ ‘cm’. Furthermore, it sometimes completely skips parts of sentences. Maybe it will improve but not worth the money now.

DO NOT TRY THIS APP. You cannot cancel it

Since I first applied for the trial I could no access my account. I emailed them detailing the problem and never got a message. I cannot retrieve my account since no email is sent to me when ai try “forgot my password”. Today they charged me 137.39 dollars and I can’t even get into my account to cancel it. I emailed them again, hope I have a response now, I will not pay for something I simply never used and can never use. Worst app I ever tried in my life.
