Lutron App Reviews

Doesn’t work

Ian Number 2 on

Added devices (light remotes) to app, but controls to turn light on/up off/down don’t work.

Mediocre

I’ve had Lutron Caseta smart light switches, dimmers and hub for a year. The automatic scheduling stops working after short power interruptions. I can turn lights on/off from my mobile device, but they don’t respond to programmed schedules. Unplugging the hub and plugging it back in again resolves the problem. Often, I’m not able to connect to my system remotely. I believe that is related to the same issue caused by power interruptions, but I don’t know for sure. I find the app to be tedious to set up schedules. Having to go through a lot of screens for each light for each action. I end up with dozens of schedules which then have to be enabled/disabled one at a time. It would be nice to be able to group a set of schedules, so that a whole set of schedules could be enabled/disabled with a single selection. Overall Lutron smart switches are overpriced and the app is medeocre.

Widget?

MiguelHerr on

United States

This app works great. I use the Caseta system and love it. However, it seems like the widget for the iphone homescreen was discontinued? I know it existed because in the app’s settings you can select which scenes you want on the “widget”, but the widget is no where to be found. Because the widget has been discontinued, I connected my Caseta system to the Apple Home app. I then added the Apple Home App’s widget to my homescreen, and it keeps saying “No Hub”. I have a Hub, it’s my Lutron Caseta! I think apple is forcing me to use one of their hubs (apple Tv). Would it be possible to fix this compatibility issue with Apple Home, or bring back the Lutron Widget? All I want is to have my scenes in my iphone homescreen. Thank you!!!

Dimming down the lights slowly.

Can we have a button where we can dim the lights slowly? Kinda like a 10 sec dimmer, 20 sec dimmer and so on?

Loses connection to HomeKit, only solution is factory reset

J. Searls on

My Lutron hub has been happily connected to my HomeKit home for 3 years. Everything works rock solid, still. Yesterday I opened the Lutron app for the first time in a year to add 5 switches and they didn't sync to the Home app Lutron -> Settings -> Integrations HomeKit isn't checked. And when I tap it, it says it's paired with another Apple ID's home (it's not) and that I have to reset the Lutron hub. I have over 60 devices! That would take all day!

App works reliably, but the design is stuck in the 90’s

Kdla100 on

United States

The app has worked pretty reliably for over two years now. I don’t use it very often though because of the poor UI. It’s just a list of rooms that expands to show all the lights grouped in a room. You then have to turn on each item individually. I actually use other apps that are more intuitive, have better function, and design aesthetics to control my Lutron devices. (Hardware hasn’t failed me yet BTW) Lutron - it’s time to hire some new folks in the app design department. Please

Needs improvement

Pairing took forever (why isn’t it wireless? Keeping it plugged into the router seems ancient). Press button until it flashes quickly. Took about 8 cycles of plugging and I plugging, electrician even removed and reinstalled switch multiple times before it actually worked. Programming interface could be a lot more straight forward with on and off times

Working ok

Recent fixes have this app working again. Hope it stays that way - don’t want a repeat of an updated app breaking core functionality.

Limited app

entreq8 on

Missing a widget, no customizing screens for deploying to specific rooms for visitors/guests (no way of controlling access)

Scenes

Collins2006 on

The app is great!, just wish when you create a scene if you click it twice it would turn off the scene you made. I always just use Apple home app to control my lights instead
