Great App with just a few downsides
I got the app for university, as I need to have some kind of visual summary to get my learned stuff sorted. So the main feature i get Marginnote for, was the mindmap. It was never that easy to go through your lectures and create a mindmap at the same time. With the possibility to open more PDFs at the same time, I am even able to reasearch in some technical literature at the same time. So if you are searching for a way to effectively and time-savingly create summaries - Marginnote is the way to go.
I personally have found two downsides:
- You can‘t create a typical „note“, or like a notebook (like in Goodnotes or Notability e.g.), so if I want to create like a handwritten note, like i am creating them throughout my uni-day, I have to use another app, and then later on export it to marginnote , which causes a little more work, but maybe the creators are working on it or I just couldn‘t find the feature yet. (lol)
- Number two has to be the colour theme for me. Me, personally, I love to work with some kind of darkmode activated - There is a way to do it in marginnote, but the downsides concern the PDFs. If the darkmode is activated, the PDFs are shown in negative, which I personally can not work with, as true colours are essential for my learning.
But overall, Marginnote3 is a great app for iPad users (I don‘t know anything about the Mac workflow) and I am looking forward to the next updates.

Fantastic app, integration of Mac and handheld devices works to satisfaction.
The complexity of the user interface is somewhat demanding and requires improvement of instructions. Dropbox integration would be great.

habe lange eine app fürs ipad gesucht um wissenschaftstexte zu kommentieren bzw ideen dazu festzuhalten und mit textpassagen in verbindung zu bringen. das funktioniert einwandfrei. eine arbeitserleichterung.
Praktisch zum Lernen mit vielen Dokumenten
Den 5ten Stern gibts für korrektes Erkennen Mathematischer Symbole (<,>,≠,~,α,β,γ,θ,etc.)

Upgraded from MarginNote 2 to MN 3, since developer is urging to update to MarginNote 3 via the App update function. Upgraded now with the latest version and now they want money for OCR and before it has been free ???
Won’t recommend this app to any of my colleagues anymore. Seems to be some kind of scheme to make the most profit out of people just because of pure greed. 👎🏼
Katastrophale Stabilität
Ich versuche die App im Zuge meiner Dissertation einzusetzen. Aber die in Instabilität der App bei der Sync zwischen iPad Pro und iMac ist gelinde gesagt eine Zumutung, insbesondere wenn man bedenkt, das die Software am MacOS eigentlich sauteuer ist. Die Idee hinter der App ist sehr gut, aber in der Qualität ist sie für den professionellen Einsatz in Studium und Forschung nicht zu gebrauchen. Die ausschließlich positiven Rezessionen hier kann ich nicht nachvollziehen.
Sobald die Synchronisation stabil läuft gibt definitiv 5 Sterne!

Ich verwende die App für mein Studium und bin völlig begeistert. Mit der App lassen sich PDFs wunderbar annotieren, markierte Stellen automatisch in eine Mind Map übertragen, die dann ganz einfach weiter bearbeitet werden kann. Auch erstelle ich mit MarginNote Exzerpte für gelesene Literatur, die in Word exportiert werden können. Hier wird dann automatisch eine Struktur erstellt (nach Überschriften und selbst erstellten Hierarchien), die man dann weiter bearbeiten kann.
Außerdem ist es möglich mehrere Dokumente in einer Mindmap miteinander zu verknüpfen, Tags zu vergeben und Karteikarten zu generieren.
Die Einarbeitung zu Beginn erfordert ein bisschen Geduld und Forschergeist, zahlt sich aber sehr schnell aus!
Kann ich nur empfehlen!

the previous version of this app did not appeal to me but this one is fantastic. The user interface has so much improved. It really works. I just started testing it but so far it already has most of the functions you could ask for. One of the things that are really important to me is that I can export the data in a format that allows me to use it on another platform. Checked.
There may not be a manual yet - at least I have not found any - but with a little bit of persistent patience you can learn the functions easily by trial and error. I did so in a few hours. It
is really a cool app and I enjoy using it.
