Meetup for Organizers Reviews
I just started with this other new app for Meetup.
I was able to see where I could schedule more events, but it isn’t evident about how to copy the last one over and over again for each different event date. It used to be more self evident, but it seems more complicated now.
Bruh
Why can’t I upload a group cover photo? I go to group setting, says go to homepage and find button, button doesn’t exist. Am I missing something? Why have an organizer app if I’m going to have to use the website? The flow between the organizer app and the user app should be better. I had 3 people join my group and I didn’t get any notification for the individual members, why? It’s pretty important to know who and when people are joining. It’s not a bad app but the flow needs to be better. UX needs improvement
Buggy
I use Meetup for Organizers in two main ways: (1) to create events and (2) to approve new members to my group. Both features are buggy and frustrating to use.
Adding bold, italics, and other formatting to event descriptions can’t be done like you would in a word processor. Instead, you have to use asterisks. Even when you do that, the preview doesn’t show the formatting, so you have to hope it worked correctly, or wait to preview your draft in a browser. Multiple reviewers below have mentioned how dysfunctional the text boxes are, so I’ll just add to the chorus on that. I’ve taken to typing my event descriptions in Apple Notes then copying and pasting to the app.
Approving pending members is the most frustrating feature. It seems to work in different ways depending on how many members there are to approve. It’s not an app page; instead, it opens a browser page (negative billion stars for this alone). There used to be a way to approve all requests at once, but that seems to have disappeared. My welcome message doesn’t show on the approval page, so I can’t make edits if needed. And there’s no option to select whether to default to sending the welcome message or not, so I have to choose each time. Meetup web isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely easier to use than the app. I only use the app when I have to. I hope it improves.
Technical bug?
There’s an issue that event announcement emails are not getting sent out all of sudden. I tried multiple times and checked with other members. Please fix this bug.
Full of bugs
I’ve written many times about this on discord, but this app is so full of bugs. I can’t possibly list them all. Can you please go back to the original meet up that we can edit?
Here are just a few of the many bugs I ran into today:
1. When editing a new event, the app on iOS cannot find any of my previous locations. Both Google and iOS maps find this location by just typing the name. Meetup can’t find it, further cannot find my previous location for past events. So each time I have to enter that I’m in the United States, duh and all the other information to enter a location.
2. I see a new message, from the Meetup chat. But when I click on it it pages forward to next month and won’t let me see the chat from a previous meet up.
3. Then I try to view my personal direct messages, but they have disappeared. There is no longer a selection for direct messages.

The app is buggy
The text fields are dysfunctional. They randomly duplicate your text as you write. Shouldn’t have ever been released.
Terrible
I’ve had to rewrite and repost this event, many many times I pay for the service, and it keeps disconnecting. I can’t publish a photo it keeps erasing I don’t even save a draft… This is terrible!
Hard to use
This app is unrefined. It’s been used for many years now and could use an update. It is difficult to write up the description as “the “ turns into “thee”. When you double tap the space bar for a period you just get two spaces. These and other conventions are missing.
Also, this app should be adapted to iPads full screen using all the available features of that device. With all the money organizers pay for hosting their events this app should be a lot better.
Experience
So far this has been a positive experience for me. I have met some beautiful, inspiring women since I started organizing these walks.
