Met Opera on Demand Reviews

App is unusable

CYScrabbler on

United Kingdom

The latest updates have completely messed up the app on an ipad. Track list dies not work on landscape. Resume from previous does not work. Not only is the resume 'title' missing, it disappears when clicking on the 'back' arrow.

More development needed

Premium price, but why not premium features? Status bar stays on forever. Not every opera is available offline. No Picture in Picture. No skip ahead or back buttons or double clicks. Have to keep pressing play after each hidden chapter. Why is the sung language not available in subtitles, only English?

Wonderful content, but the app is horribly unstable

Elbereth123 on

Keeps crashing and sometimes the search function seizes up When it works though....

Irritating issues

physicsjeff on

United Kingdom

Great content hampered by poor software. 1. The status bar is visible on my iPad and cannot be suppressed. 2. The Apple TV app cannot pass audio to Sonos via Airplay. Every other app I use can do that. The iPad app can do it, but I’d like to watch on my TV and listen on my Sonos Play. This has to be easy to fix. And it would make a difference.

Too many issues with connectivity

mecb03 on

Love the concept of the app, and the offering is phenomenal. However as an app it simply doesn’t hold up as a streaming service; unless you’re connected to a really strong WiFi you can’t get through a piece without having to stop & restart the app a million times. This is partially because of unrelated connectivity issues, but I try to watch operas on the same train journey every day and YouTube streams just fine, whereas the Met app can’t last even 5 minutes, indicating to me that it’s clearly related to the way in which the Met chooses to stream its operas. It’s nice that they’re in HD, but in my opinion - and given the extensive measures it takes to connect the app to a tv (aka through screen mirroring from your phone) - I would say simplify the stream, make it way easier for use as a smart phone/tablet app, and then it’ll easily be a 5 star app. I never write reviews but am hoping this provides useful feedback to the developers rather than pointless moaning. Maybe this is just my experience, but hopefully something can be done, as I’d love to continue using the app but without improvements in this regards I’m simply going to have to cancel my subscription.

Great app - Bug in Search

Sam129574r on

United Kingdom

Great app and content in a time of lockdown. Last night I noticed there’s a bug in the search feature of the AppleTV version. When i searched for a term, the the search results are shown but I couldn’t select them. A ‘spinner’ was shown in the background. Please fix!

Let us download?

It would be great if we could download operas to watch on the commute without WiFi! Just for a couple of days.

Thank you

Thank you for now making this available on iPhone. Now have Met Opera on Demand wherever I am. Please consider allowing subscribers to download at least one opera broadcast for a few days so can watch or listen without needing wifi or using data. Would be very useful on a long commute on a train or plane.
