Midori(和英・英和辞典) FAQ
Is Midori(和英・英和辞典) free?
Yes, Midori(和英・英和辞典) is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Midori(和英・英和辞典) legit?
🤔 The Midori(和英・英和辞典) app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Following up on my Aug 24 review, please look to a competing app Shirabe Jisho to see how it’s done. Their stroking function is beautifully laid out. When your kanji look up can’t come up with the character I need, I don’t bother with the radical lookup anymore. I go straight to Shirabe. Much easier.
Longtime companion
I’ve been using Midori for over a decade now, and love the new camera feature (hopefully it can read vertical text soon).
Feature request: It would be nice to be able to search a list and bookmark/export the results. I can paste a list into the Translate section, but cannot bulk save/export the definitions.
This dictionary has no pronunciation
This dictionary has no pronunciation, not at all, so you find a word and you still don’t know how to read it
AMAZING Camera Lookup. Visual Pitch Accents.
The new camera function is MARVELLOUS!
Rather than scanning and doing a bulk translation (as Google Translate does), this app allows you to take a photo and then tap on each word to show it’s dictionary search results… It’s hard to explain without a screenshot, but this is perfect for allowing me to have a kind of “split screen” with my Japanese photo/text in the bottom half, and a live dictionary in the too half. I might try this on Japanese video games, by using the camera feature on dialogue text. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Every word in Japanese has a binary pitch accent measured in HIGHs and lows… and since many words share the same pronunciation, the pitch pattern discriminates the target meaning. The new update now includes this feature, so now I don’t need to look up pitch patterns on the internet anymore. Thank you!!!

Show memo option on flashcard
Could you please add an option of show memo on flash card?
Easy to use, but…
This app has some mistakes.
日本人でも間違った使い方してる人いるからね。
Great app
This is very good app for learning Japanese words and meaning. I have been using it for more than 9years from the time I came to japan.
problem since last iOS update
Been using this app for ages, and I love it.
But since the latest iOS update (15.4.1), in "translate" mode, the right column does not jump to the word selected in the text.
Extremely useful feature when it worked, now it's very annoying to keep up between reading the text and finding the corresponding words in the right column. Thank you for fixing this as soon as you can.
Common words
I’ve been using this app everyday for the past fews. I only wish that flashcard options would include a filter for common words/expressions.
Superb
I use it on a daily basis. It is perfect. It does everything I want it to. I can write in English letters or I can write in Japanese. It understands everything. I highly recommend it.
