Midori (Japanese Dictionary)

Diese App ist hervorragend.

Meiner Meinung nach einer der besten Apps, um Japanisch → Englisch nachzuschlagen. Für Englisch → Japanisch nur bedingt geeignet, aber das gilt für alle Apps, die JMdict benutzen. Super bedienbar — gerade wenns schnell gehen muss — und jetzt sogar mit Tonakzentangaben. Der einzige Grund, dass ich keine fünf Sterne geben kann, ist, dass bisher keine automatische Synchronisation über mehrere Geräte unterstützt wird. Wenn man wie ich viel mit Vokabellisten und Notizen arbeitet, aber mehrmals täglich das Gerät wechselt, wirds schwierig.

Seit Jahren eine hervorragende App, die immer besser wurde. Besonders die vielen Beispielsätze und die Möglichkeit mehrere Volabellisten anzulegen sind sehr praktisch. :-)

I liked this app very much. But since the last update rare kanjis are no longer found by handwriting. Frequently used kanjis I won't look up this often. Even worse, when I look up rare kanjis by radical these kanjis are written dank grey on light grey and are hardly readable.

I used to use imiwa, but there hasn't been an update in a long time and it just doesn't look good anymore on a plus-size iPhone. This app is totally worth the money (I don't see why I wouldn't want to pay money for a dictionary). Really helpful and beautifully designed. I would be happy to have a feature implemented that automatically analyzes the clipboard, since it makes looking up things so much faster (e.g. when texting Japanese friends). ----- Thank you for caring about feedback. 😊😊

Die App funktioniert tadellos. Selber Kanjis zu finden kann sich als schwierig erweisen, aber insgesamt ein gutes Nachschlagewerk und gut zum lernen. Allerdings ist meine iPhone Version komplett (alles Menüs) auf japanisch. Gerade im Gegensatz zur iPad Version - die in den Menüs in Romaji gehalten ist - finde ich mich deutlich langsamer zurecht (gibt es da Abhilfe?)

Die App ist hervorragend. Ich benutze sie regelmäßig im Japanischunterricht. Schade nur, das es sie nicht auf Deutsch gibt und sie keinen Sprachübersetzer hat. Außerdem wäre es wünschenswert, die Kamera des Tablets oder Smartphones zu integrieren. Damit man Kanji fotografieren und dann übersetzen kann.

I have been using Midori (and many other Japanese dictionary apps as well) for quite some time now. The unsurpassed strengths of this app are IMHO: - Most example sentences of any app so far. When learning the vocabulary for e.g. JLPT4 many other similar apps are missing examples of some words. It is really hard to understand the use of a new word without example sentences - Japanese names for people and places. No other app is able to properly look them up - Great translation mode that allows to paste a complete Japanese sentence and get a list of the contained Japanese words _without_ losing the overview an the sentence itself. No other app is able todo this in such a superb way. - Shows important info for vocabulary like "honorific language" or "transitive verb" or "godan verb". Some other apps also do this but not all of them. Now for the things I am still missing: - A good flash card learning mode. The one implemented is rather rudimentary. It has space repetition system, yes but it does not allow to open the complete word entry with all information out of the flash card mode. That is quite cumbersome, so for flash card learning I still keep to the apps "Japanese" and "StickyStudy". But anyhow, this app is great and worth it's money!!!

Ich benutze die Wortlisten ("Translate") jeden Tag um aus dem Web zu lesen. Mit drei taps landet ein Wort aus dem Text auf einer Karteikarte. Motiviert ungemein.
