Why The best app

I love MIMO. Learning language has become fun and entertaining. My addiction to social media has almost disappeared. As I have ADHD this app is a wonder for me I wish they add-more cybersecurity course as well like Security operation centre, penetration testing like OSCP Love MIMO

Just like Duolingo, but for coding.

As a complete beginner with only a rough general understanding of coding, this has been a fun way to learn the initial fundamentals and hopefully beyond that as I move forward. It runs well, is intuitive and borrows all the best design elements from Duolingo. My only problem is that the “puzzles” or tests, usually don’t require you to actually figure out what to do - They tell you exactly what to write in, you comply and it tells you that you’re correct. Now, that said - if you’re looking at what you’re doing and trying to understand why it works and what you’re achieving by writing that, you’re actually going to learn effectively, or so I’ve found thus far. But personally I’d prefer if there were actually more false answers, so I’d have to think about my responses more carefully rather than just go on autopilot and “pass” the problems. Thankfully you can simply address this by being thoughtful about the process—and that’s fine, but when I have gone through 5 or 6 lessons and my attention span begins to weaken, I find myself slipping into that a bit. Plus, it’s always more satisfying to me when I see, perhaps 6 possible answers, and immediately can tell which one is correct and understand why the other 5 are not. Most questions have only 2 possible answers, and sometimes only 1 (so there’s no possible way to fail). It reduces the sense of achievement for me, and I think this app could improved with a slight difficulty adjustment - but maybe that could be a setting that people choose, which only really effects the number of responses available in multiple choice. All in all, really liking the app so far and will hopefully update my star rating to 5 as I progress if the lessons become more difficult and/or complex while still feeling approachable and comprehensible. And a final little aside - the little references in the lessons to things like movies, games, quotes, alongside the context of real world applications of the specifics being learned, add a layer of interest and value that goes a long way! It creates a clear feeling of where this is all headed while feeling approachable, or relatable, in a sense. Looking forward to learning more!

Deceptive pricing

I signed up for the annual subscription of Mimo Pro for $99AUD, and was intrigued by the desktop projects in “Mimo Max” - the $399 AUD annual subscription. I signed up to the two-week free trial for Mimo Max. After just under two weeks, I decided I hadn’t used the desktop projects enough to justify the cost, so I went to cancel it in Apple Subscriptions. Apple Subscriptions said my next renewal was November next year even with Mimo Max selected under subscriptions - as I initially thought this given date was the Mimo Pro subscription I’d willing paid for. Turns out I was right, and the next day I was charged $399 for Mimo Max. Having this pricing structure is clearly taking advantage of Apple’s subscription system to con users out of more money. I reached out to Apple for a refund and they’ve denied it without reason. If Mimo reads this and wants to personally reach out to refund the Mimo Max subscription, then I will delete this review as I take that as a mark of valuing customer service.

Pretty good, but wrong time zone

Purchased Pro Works well on my mobile. Good combination of pick an answer and type code. Main issues right now: 1. The daily reset isn’t at midnight my time - still not sure when it is. While it’s great to learn more while waiting for the daily reset, it’s very frustrating if I want to do my daily practice at 8am each morning, but don’t get credit unless I do it late in the day. I have contact support multiple times, but zero results. 2. If you make a typo when typing into the interface, you can’t reposition the cursor to correct a single character, you have to backspace/delete back to that point. Painful if it’s the 1st character I flub. 3. Pro for mobile is a subscription. Pro for desktop is a second subscription. So the use is limited unless you want to hand over the $$$

best app ever for beginners

This is an application that provides a comprehensive and streamlined approach to learning, saving time for users. It guides learners directly to the core of the subject without including excessive, irrelevant information. While supplementary knowledge is essential, many other coding apps overload lessons with too much information, causing beginners to feel overwhelmed, discouraged, and more likely to give up. For those who are not learning through formal education, Mimo is an app that brings you closer to the field of information technology.

Awesome!

Mimo is arguably, if not, the best coding app on the App Store I’ve ever found. It’s easily understandable, even to the beginner coders who don’t even know how to print “Hello World”. When I first downloaded this, the app far exceeded my expectations. The free version isn’t like the ‘free versions’ in other apps; in fact, buying Pro or Max can really only be considered an upgrade. The free version doesn’t feel free, that’s how good it is. There may be other reviews criticising problems on this app, but most of them are from a long time ago and those issues have been addressed. I’ve found that the developers of Mimo listens to their coders and actually takes action. I do have one small irk and that’s with the coins. They’re sort of hard to get. In my opinion, there isn’t a satisfactory amount of coins given as a reward for reaching your daily goal. The cheapest thing in the shop is 150 coins, and that’s for a 7-day streak challenge. The next cheapest thing is 200 coins (for a streak freeze). Increasing the daily coin amount for receiving your daily goal would be better for engagement as I don’t always feel motivated to spend too much time on Mimo. Overall, a wonderfully formatted app to learn coding and if you’re interested (even a little bit) in learning to code major programming languages like python, JavaScript, html & more, Mimo is a great app for it and there’s nothing else like it on the App Store. Fantastic for both coding as a hobby or career.

Cant do nothing for 3 hours

If only you didnt have to pay $60 just to learn coding, i wanted to chill and learn but i have to come back every 3 hours to just lose the life on the same one. Also it tells me to go to the practice tab and tells me i need lifes for the practice tab. Also coins are basically impossible to get. There is no sandbox to just play around in. make the thing better.

Easy to learn

This app makes learning coding extremely easy with the way it explains everything plainly.

Almost there

Great courses, but the editor built in is clunky AF. I found it very difficult to use.
