I am using the free version which is great. It’s a real shame because if it was £10-£20 one off cost I would buy the full version but the subscription is a way too expensive. I’m sure they would get a lot more people buying if it wasn’t so crazy expensive.

It’s genuinely saving me so much time and my focus has really improved using it, what a gem to be able to harness all that I’ve learned with such a beautiful and simple interface!!!

Good app and as a one of payment I'd happily purchase but not worth a monthly fee.

I came across Modacity while testing each of the music practice apps; having recently returned to playing music again after a very long break, I needed an app which supported my practice and practice planning, especially across several instruments, and dividing my time between warmup, technique, new rep and old. I’d originally overlooked Modacity as it looked so, well, complex and snazzy, however it’s turned out to be the most comprehensive of the music practice apps, and I’m really grateful to be using it, as it’s really helping my return to playing - it certainly offers so much more than the other apps. It’s really helpful to see how long I’ve been spending on individual pieces and practice lists over time. I’ve been in touch with them a few times over feature queries and requests, and they’ve been very responsive and nice to deal with. I know that subscription apps always attract negative reviews over the costs, however I feel that the app is worth the money spent, especially considering the ongoing work on this app.

The user interface of this application is very user friendly. I have had no issues scheduling practice times and content, and the additional features allow for simple tracking of practice performance across any period of time. Seems to be an excellent companion app for musicians of all levels.

This is a great app. I use it to structure all my practice sessions. Wish I’d had this years ago. My practice is now much more focused and I can see real progress....and I’m only using the free version. The “but?”....it’s just too expensive to get the monthly subscription. I don’t mind paying for good apps (and don’t get me wrong this is a superb app) but I’ll be using this for many years to come and the subscription will quickly add up to a small fortune. How about a reasonable one-off fee?

After initial reservations (particularly considering the price) I had a couple of email exchanges with them and decided to take the plunge. Boy, am I glad I did! This app has become the central pillar of my daily practice routine. As a busy pro trumpeter it can be difficult to make sure you’re on top of everything you need to keep in shape - especially if you’re on the road. Modacity allows me to plan routines ahead of time and to ensure that they all get done (usually). When your chops feel bad you can look back at what you’ve been practicing and see if there’s any correlation. Same when they’re feeling good - and everything in between. This allows you to build an optimum schedule where you know all aspects are being covered and you just vary the exercises periodically. You can build and save all kinds of practice routines for all kinds of circumstances and I feel that the app keeps my chops in peak shape. However, for me the best feature is the instant record function. The press of a button will record what you play and then play it back to you. WARNING: If you’re anything like me, you might not be as good as you think you are! 😉It can be brutal to hear what you play but it certainly focuses the mind on what needs improvement. You also have the option to save the recording for later comparison (did I get any better?) All in all I can’t recommend this app highly enough. It’s worth every penny.

A practice log app, but you can’t view the practice log without the premium version. Which makes the free one as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Like the idea of this app, especially since the practice app I’ve been using for years has been abandoned by its developer. But it looks really primitive on an iPad Pro, which is what I want to use. And although it has lots of features, it’s a very expensive subscription. Perhaps if it can be optimised for iPad, and gets midi input so I can record my digital piano directly when practising silently in the early mornings, I might try it again. For now, though, it still needs a lot of work.

This is a brilliant app that is being developed all the time with new enhancements. It not only tracks practice sessions but also has innovative elements such as focused improvement, recording, and historical data. It also has a pretty good metronome!!
