Great Fishing Resource
I was initially hesitant about using a fishing app but I’m happy this one exists. The free version is useful: having a curated view of every access point, boat ramp, fly shop, etc directly on my phone means I can plan trips faster. The My Waters dashboard they added recently has also been a game changer — I use it to keep a pulse on all of the live water conditions for my favorite rivers instead of individually checking them on the USGS site, and I have it set up so I get alerts when stream flows are in my ideal ranges.
Their team is also really responsive to feedback about the in-app experience. There are a few things like the river measuring tool that are useful but more manual than I expected and it sounds like those are things they’re actively working on solving for. I’m stoked to see what this app will look like in a year’s time.
Fantastic app!!
Honestly I don’t ever write reviews for apps or really in general…but this app is freaking awesome! I am mainly a trout fisherman, which the app is perfect for finding public water and access points, but on a recent saltwater trip I checked and boom, they have insanely detailed saltwater fishing access too! Really great app that continues to get better and better
Some of the fastest action
The Madison chain has shore fishing at it’s finest please leave the spots you fish better then you came if you find litter pick it up it feels good looks good . Fish on ! Tight lines AARRR !!
Free version is just google maps
This is one of the most useless fishing or boating apps ever. Google earth and maps does the is for free and fishbrain has much better features for fishing.
Has potential
This app has potential to be awesome. Really its only ok. Unfortunately I paid for the subscription and did not get anything different than the free version.
If open water wants some suggestions I could make it an awesome app.
not as good as i thought it would be
i got this app to see public and private properties of fishing spots easily but it’s not very helpful when determining which bodies of water are private or not
Inaccurate boat ramps
There are no boat ramps on Mackinac Island, Michigan also one of the boat ramps in Cheboygan, Michigan is not a ramp but where the ferry boat moores
Access points to previously unknown waters
The On Water App has helped me find access points to waters that I have never fished before, It also gives me river distances so I can plan my day, It keeps me from going farther than planned. The different map views are invaluable as you can go from satellite to topographical very easily. It helps you be prepared for how strenuous your outing could be, being a disabled Veteran it helps keep me safe. Some New England streams an Rivers are not listed it would nice if they were added so the search function could find them, The street directions are very accurate in the area that I’m located in. I would highly recommend this App. Steve Sennott
OnWater is great!!
Just started using this app and I love it! It tells me current conditions which helps me decide where to fish and what species to target. Totally changed the way I fish!!
Great App!
OnWater is a great app that is helpful for researching/ scouting locations to fish- especially somewhere you have not been before. The data and maps are super helpful. Waterflow, public vs private land along waterways, lists and connections to local fishing/tackle shops and fishing reports all add to your ability to assess new waters. I recommend the app as a useful tool for any one who loves to fish.
