Opal Travel

This is a great app and mainly does what it needs to do. However, try as I might (and I’ve tried numerous times over the past few months), I am unable to purchase Opal credit using the app. I enter my MasterCard Debit Card details and am told they are invalid. It’s a shame as everything else works well.

This app is easy to use but unless you know the city well, its severely limited functionality renders it useless for any actual travel beyond calculating a fare or seeing the times of the next bus or ferry. For instance there are no maps -or links to Google-maps- to show the locations of bus-stops or stations, so the app's directions like "bus stop 103456 at Adam Smith Rd" are meaningless if you know know how to get there. Also if you're on a bus, you don't know when to get off as you can't identify the stop listed on the app from inside the bus. In addition there is no Favourite function for commonly used routes, so you have to type them in every time you travel. Future upgrades might be better.

The app is great bit it doesn’t remember any of my settings nor my saved routes. Once I quit/kill it, it gets wiped out.

I was just wondering why not in wallet, I wanted to give my brother gift cards one is opal card but the amount of opal card is keep showing on the screen . Opal card is best as a gift to support him during travel but now I feel insecure just because it shows amount on the screen I hope there could be a solution for this

The top up function should not require a tap-on to activate.

This is our go to app for traveling around Sydney. Easy to use, easy to top up, and keep kids moving around

As tourists, this app made it so easy to find our way across town on ferry, bus and train. Very reliable, even has the real-time walking routes showing you how to get from one location to another. We relied heavily on it and it didn’t let us down. Easy to check and top up credit. Bravo!
