Lack certain useful features. 1. Cannot copy and paste all edits to another photo. Can only do copy “Adjustment”. Useful for batch editing. 2. Cannot selectively undo healing and clone. 3. Will be great if mouse scroll wheel can be used to changed brush size. 4. Cannot compare two different photos at the same time. Useful to compare two different edits styles.
Great replacement of Adobe Photoshop
I was originally sold on this app for the AI features, hoping it would be a one-click way for me to improve photos. It’s unfortunately horrible for food photos, making everything look terribly bland. I notice the same too for more vibrant photos taken with my iPhone, that it makes them ever so slightly more muted. Great if that’s your style, not so if you like a more “screamed” depiction of reality. Where this app shines so is it’s workflows and ability to sharpen photos. The ease of adding and managing presets is a great plus too! In the age of more advanced photo editors, this falls a little behind in spite of it having the best UX of any one of them.
For certain photos the moment you open them the app immediately makes adjustments on the photo, in many cases the photos become overexposed.
Seriously for 300mb you can’t get anything that’s like this, the best of its kind, highly highly recommended!
After using for years, still can’t fix distortion
A great tool for Photo Editing on Ipad. Most of the functions were easy to use & understand for beginners. When it works, it really is a delight to use. That being said, for slightly more complex background, the spot healing can sometimes be frustrating to use. I would hope that there are also some additional basic functions, such as input of text, etc.. So definitely rooms for improvement but moving in the right direction.
An outstanding photo editing app that does a lot of things that Lightroom does - in many cases better. File handling is fantastic and the colour editing tools, in particular, shine. Exporting from the app, in particular exports in the full resolution of the original image. While dpi (or ppi) is not a real issue in a digital context anymore, it is fantastic that Pixelmator leaves files in their original format and leaves all metadata intact. This is something that Lightroom is lacking and is only remedied by the fact that photos may be exported via Lightroom on a PC via Adobe Cloudsync. One thing that is, however, missing is an option for selective editing and/or masking. While Lightroom does not have masking, selective editing is available and is, frankly, a must in order to get the most out of your editing in many cases. Should this be added it would be a very effective Lightroom replacement without the need to repeatedly pay subscriptions.
Photoshop was a disappointment. 5min with Pixelmator and I am delighted with the way the app is designed, the user experience is great and the app delivers simplicity that is powerful. This is a great foundation to build more capabilities as the future of mobile photo editing.
