Oh well, time will tell.

I’m guessing Photomator was seen as competition for the new inbuilt ai editing in the apple photos app? Huge mistake in my opinion. Watch this slowly/quickly fade away.

The killer feature of this app that I only discovered after I installed the trial is the ability to instantly switch between editing in my Apple Photo Library and my local files. If you backup photos to a folder structure and want to edit later, but mostly work with Apple photos from your library, give this app a try. It's like Lightroom's Local Browser, but it actually previews images in subfolders. Just getting to grips with workflows now, but loving the intuitive layer based editing, LUT's and file organisation features. So far I’m regretting not switching from Lightroom sooner.

Since macOS 15.1 Thumbnails seem to have a mind of their own.

Was quite good software so I paid for a lifetime subscription a few months ago. In hindsight that’s was a mistake the software has since been brilliant and flawed at the same time. After it recently announcing it is selling to Apple the software and support seems to have not been as good. I have noticed quite a few bugs and is now unusable for me as it no longer shows any Thumbnails and when it does it is only for a short time - they just come and go, but mostly go! I’m not sure if it is to do with the latest Apple updates but I am guessing it is in the Photomator software itself. I put in a support request a few days ago but I have not heard anything. I know from the web other people are having thumbnail problems as well? It’s a shame as it was looking good - I am now just hoping future updates sort it out in the meantime it’s back to Windows for me…..

Great software. Layout looks great and so much better than Photo… but the price. Just too expensive for home use and I do not ‘rent’ software so only buy out right. It’s a shame. I did just buy Pixelmator Pro though ! Would have loved the two.

Overpriced but decent.

A very nice app with denoise and upscaling features that seem fairly good. Formerly around £6.99, the app is now £149.99 or £7.99 per month to rent it. That is expensive for such a limited feature set. I guess it’s for professional photographers that do quick urgent edits on their phone..? I dunno. If so it should really have a watermark feature. Anyway Apple bought the company so it’ll probably get rebranded and released for free for iOS 19 or 20.

I installed this just to use it for one time, I opened it erased what needed erased and then pressed done pressed save but it didn’t go into my photos?I have no idea where that picture went it didn’t get saved into my photos?I had hope in this, don’t recommend to anyone

Lept on this with a view to replacing LrC. However, immediately cancelled due to inability to catalogue from photos stored on external drive. Having this as iCloud based storage only is a terrible idea. I have 1000’s of photos spanning years and import my photos of my camera onto a local drive to then edit. This is working off the assumption that all photos are taken with iPhone and or should be imported into iCloud. Such a pity as software appears good and although roadmap shows ability to use edit photos stored elsewhere I cannot use/subscribe until such a feature is available

Pretty great

Long time Lightroom use but love this. Ironically only heard about it after the Apple purchase so lets see what happens… but so far loving the speed and snap compared to Lightroom.

Forget light room get this instead

If like me, you are so sick of companies like adobe trying to force you into a life long subscription to edit your photos, then this app is for you. It’s superb and works in the exact same way as lightroom. Just purchase it, you won’t regret it.

Good but unstable

I’m not sure how much to expect from an on-phone image editor however I find that Photomator crashes a lot when editing raw files on my iPhone 13. Other than that this is a very capable editor and would be my top recommend
