What others say about Proton:
“Proton has now made it stupid-easy to encrypt your schedule. Information about what you plan to do, where, and with whom, can be just as sensitive as the messages you send and receive.” Gizmodo

Thanks for the vote
How much does Proton Calendar cost?
Proton Calendar has several in-app purchases/subscriptions, the average in-app price is 199.99 $.
I have just updated this app (Dec 2023) and the new layout view which shows an entire month is fantastic.
The fact that calendar events are encrypted and safe makes this app even better.
Thank you so much for the update. I can now stop flicking between the Proton calendar and the Apple calendar when looking into the future.
Missing travel time
Bottom line I won’t use this calendar app because it lacks the notion of ‘travel time’ to an appointment seen in other calendar apps. I have to add travel time manually as a separate appointment, that’s going to get tedious very quickly.
There are so many calendar apps to choose from I’m trying this because I use other Proton products because I like the idea of open source secure apps, besides that Proton apps are just average, nothing to set them apart for others, in fact I’d say they are still immature and lack some of the useful little things other similar apps have.

Off to a rocky start
I’m migrating from Gmail to Proton services.
Was surprised that there’s no support for iPad. Is this coming?
Couldn’t paste my password in the login field to sign in, or use 1Password to autofill. Why? Worked fine in Protonmail.
It also failed to login the first time due to some provisioning error, so I had to retype everything.
Doesn’t work
The app randomly logged me out and now when I try to log back in, it says some weird error, like “unable to set up the settings.”
Many bugs
Signs me out all the time. Only Proton app that does this. Cannot update calendar events. Crashes when adding a description. Cannot have multiple lines in description. Can’t change colors of different events without adding a separate calendar. Needs work!
It needs more work.
It’s pretty okay calendar. But it has one issue when it comes to alerting you for events. Also, I don’t like the fact that it signed you out. And you don’t even know if it signed out and then you a week later and you realize, you haven’t been getting your alerts.
Calendar shows the last date when was opened
I checked my events on July 9. When I opened calendar on July 11, it was still showing July 9. It seems that dates not updating automatically. You have to always tap on current day when you open calendar.
Dealbreaker for the Proton ecosystem?
This app is very close to a dealbreaker for the whole Proton ecosystem. Here in 2024, a calendar has to just work. This is a solved problem. No CalDAV support (and thus no iOS event sync)? No calendar subscription management in the mobile app? A settings page comprised of one option? Privacy is great, but this has me searching for how to get a refund on Proton Plus.
As an edit, Proton is very engaged with their product and did respond to my review, but no response can change the fact that the calendar doesn’t sync with a venerable standard like CalDAV. That’s astonishing. Proton is very admirable, but is missing real basics here. These are unforced errors.
Needs Additional Functionality
Love Proton Apps! They are secure, beautiful and for the most part are full featured and have great functionality.
Please, please, please add a search function and widgets!
