I used to loved Roadtrippers! I started using it in 2016, but every year they take more free options away to the point that now there aren’t any free options and I can’t even look at my old trips. I didn’t mind the ads, sad such a fun app has gone away
I used this app years ago and it seemed much better. Brought it back for a road trip we just took and here’s what I experienced. 1. The AI suggestions were cool, but clearly does not consider my interests or tastes!! 2. There were places we went to, restaurants, etc. that I could not find in the app and therefore could not add to the trip. 3. There is an ANNOYING badge icon on the app that is from the profile icon, yet when you open it, there is no clear way to clear it!!!! This could be a great app if they would fix for these unfortunate shortcomings.
The change to membership tiers is likely to be the end of this app for me. I was already paying an annual subscription - I renewed that only to eventually realize I’ve actually been downgraded and most of my planned trips are locked (and I think the search features are changed too). So I paid the same rate as last year for about 1/8 of the features. And maybe the renewal email linked to the tier information, but even if I had read that, my assumption would have been that my renewal - since it didn’t get any cheaper - was for the same level I had before. The tier thing feels like a HUGE scam - if you want to create higher tiers, then give those tiers new or additional features. Don’t charge us the same rates while dramatically reducing the features we get.
If you want to actually GO to places and SEE them without paying for the extended version of the app, good luck! 99% of the marked locations arent in the right spot. Trying to find scenic locations on a roadtrip app should be easy, but finding out that it took me to a hotel instead of ice caves (that were actually 28 miles behind us), a random house instead of a pavilion, and several more examples is extremely disappointing. The only things we did see were because of the help of other users in reviews. I wont be using this app in the future and dont recommend anyone to download it. It will just add unnecessary time to your trip to try and find things that are maybe there.
I have been paying for basic service($35.99). Which gave me several trips, not sure of exact amount. Today I tried using it and I can only access 2 of my trips and all the others are locked. Try to unlock and it takes me to a screen to sign up for pro service at $49.99. Also my current subscription is good until April 2025.
I wish I could give this app zero stars. I used it back in 2020 when it was free and downloaded it recently to plan a trip. I did not authorize or agree to the annual membership fee and then was charged, customer service was no help and refused a refund simply telling me to not renew next year. I would encourage any app other than Roadtrippers and was thoroughly disappointed with how rude customer service was.
I need to easily find RV services like propane and dump stations. Your app is no better than Google maps; worse, in fact. I want my money back, please.
Could not even explore the app as it seems you need to create an account for everything. This should have been made clear right in the beginning. Instead I wasted a lot of effort while traveling trying to see how this worked.
When typing in “Dublin, Ireland” it only shows US towns named Dublin. All the way at the bottom of the description it does mention that this app is “designed for the US and CA only”, but who reads the entire description before installing an app? Please mention at the top “Only for road trips in the US and CA.”
