Great but could be more

BigSwoog on

I love this app I’ve wanted it for a long time and now my camera works but the only things I’d like to see added is an animal call detector and identifier i think would be really cool also I would like a bit more information about the stuff i really wanna learn. Also Ive been having a hard time getting it to fully register what i show with the cameras. For instance Ive seen some cool spiders but they haven’t been able to give me anything outside from the fact that they’re in the jumping spider family, still really good app and i really enjoy it but it’s not quite perfect yet

Language issue

Bug picker on

United States

The In-app language would somehow automatically switch to English which is really annoying. I would like to check the details of the species in local language so please fix this.

Fishing for data

kksale on

United States

The app won’t work unless you allow them complete access to location (not just while using the app) and photo library (I selected add only so that they could add pics I submit but they want access to all photos.) Ultimately they couldn’t id a bird feather I submitted even though I found the app after searching feather identification

Great

I really like the amount of things you can identify. 90% of the time it will (most likely) get things right, but it can mess up sometimes. However, not everything is perfect, and I think with more time the app will eventually have a higher accuracy when identifying organisms. One thing I wish was better on the app is identifying trees, I think that that’s probably the hardest thing to identify on the whole app, because it’s difficult for me to understand how it’s going to identify a tree. I’m not sure if I need to go by leaves or by whatever “fruit” a tree will bear, or by the shape by standing away from the tree and taking a picture, but I just wish it was better at identifying trees. Overall a great app, and would definitely recommend.

Never can tell me what something is

sfjkjdhvc on

I had high hopes for this app, but it can’t identify anything. It will say bird family bit can’t identify that it’s a hawk or it will say it’s a plant species but can’t identify that it’s a hibiscus. Totally worthless app

It’s just bad

Download when in naturalized areas

I tried the app, and it was exciting at first… but when I couldn’t find more species, I got bored, until I went hiking and there was a LOT more to scan, and then I loved the app again, so, please download this if you are just gonna take a vacation to the Galápagos Islands or smth.

Amazing app that struggles with large photo libraries

misterbrandt on

United States

This is amazing app to have out in the woods with me, but when I am 100% out of cell range I often take photos with the Camera app instead of with the Seek app. Unfortunately the Seek app really struggles to open photos from my large (~100k) photo library, so I can never really figured what those “offline” plants were… :( Maybe if it could default to just loading the “recent” photos it would be a bit more usable/responsive?

Can’t ID anything

p. picasso on

United States

No idea how this has any stars. It never ID’s anything or the rare occasion it does ID, it just calls everything a dicot. Why is this such trash?

Been using for many years. Need to resolve crash issue

Team Maddog on

United States

This is a great app, but they need to fix the crash problem introduced a few months ago. Whenever I identify a species from a challenge, the app crashes. This happens on my wife’s iPhone as well since she upgraded to a newer iPhone. I keep hoping this will get fixed soon, but so far it hasn’t. This happens 100% of the time when I achieve a challenge objective.
