By default they sell you data - you have to dig into setting to opt out. Disgusting behaviour - subscription cancelled. Secondly, I’ve had Shudder a few times over the years but always found the selection sorely lacking. One thing that’s also been consistently substandard is the reliability of the app itself. Even the review system is poor - you have no ability to delete or edit your reviews.

A very poorly made app compared to the competition, no downloads, battery info etc doesn’t disappear when viewing full screen, next to no tech support. I’m about to end my subscription due to the lack of download, I like to watch when I travel so no wasting money really

Though a bit basic I like the idea and the content of Shudder, however, I see no real reason why a streaming service needs to know so much about you, there is also a “don’t sell my data” option in the settings that a lot of people have been complaining about for years and it seems that Shudder just aren’t interested in customers privacy which is very poor practice in this day and age. The app itself is…ok, I think as a celebration of all things horror far more could be done, curated content, interviews with horror stars, themed weeks/months, even spruce up the app and let us add horror based profile pictures and improve the account system so we can have a profile with movie recommendations on it etc, there is so much more that could be done, and needs to be done before customers just go elsewhere.

Several times now we’ve started a subscription in order to watch a particular film, which showed up in TV search as being available, only to find that it is not available. Even worse, the Shudder app has a different set of content from what you get if you subscribe to the Shudder channel via Amazon. The same film is often not available there either. On top of which there’s the Shudder website, which doesn’t let you browse the catalogue until you have subscribed. It’s an utter mess. Just don’t bother.

I used a 7 day trial, although they tried to take £49.99 from my card for 2 whole weeks, when my card ended up having that money in there (WHICH I NEEDED FOR SHOPPING) WENT AND TOOK 49.99 in 0.5 SECONDS!!! This is absurd , I hate app with a whole passion just paying 50 quid for useless nonsense which I definitely won’t use. Absolute joke, please no one download this or use their trial, thieves.!

I have been trying to cancel my subscription for weeks. For some reason shudders payment is different to every other vendor, and they can’t terminate my account ? I have been asking an asking for help with no avail. Alls I’ve been told is they ‘can’t access apples database for me’ which I find quite rude when I’m clearly struggling and haven’t got the money to waste. I have been told instructions that aren’t correct and left from their :)

The selection is good, I never have any trouble streaming. But the apps are terribly designed… across all platforms it seems. No multiple profiles, categories are minimal, to see the whole catalogue you need to go to the settings!?

Doesn’t bloody work! Reactivated my account, paid the fiver and nothing will play. Would love a refund

App is cheaply and poorly designed. Search function is awful, when trying to find the newly released Shudder exclusive VHS 84 horror movie it comes up with no results when searching for VHS because the title is stylised as V/H/S. So I search it that way instead with the foreword slash in between each letter V/H/S 84 and still no results. Why? Because the title has to be typed in exactly right every time and it’s actually written as ‘V/H/S/84’ with no space in between. It’s ridiculous that the app has no intelligence to be able to figure out what I was looking for. The UI of this whole app is also very outdated as if it’s stuck in 2015 with the iPhone 5. Brand new released movies are not featured on the homepage. The app is a disaster. Shudder UK also lacks hundreds of classic horror movies that you would expect such as Pumpkinhead. That one time it did come to Shudder and it was on the US/Canada version only. Shudder really need to up their game if they want to actually be taken as a serious competitor in the streaming game, especially now that other horror production companies have started their own services such as Lionsgate+
