Download the Tallinja App to upgrade your experience of the public transport service in Malta.
Welcome to the Tallinja App. With the Tallinja App, you will enjoy all the benefits of Malta Public Transport by travelling more affordably and sustainably.

The Tallinja App has many functions that will make your day-to-day journeys easier while combining all transport services offered by Malta Public Transport:

Real-time information: Locate your nearest bus stop on the map and check all available bus routes to your chosen destination. Real-time information can be accessed by tapping on your nearest bus stop.

Real-time bus tracking: Follow your bus in real-time while you are waiting at the bus stop. Once you tap on your nearest bus stop, choose “Show buses on the map in real-time” to locate on the map the bus you are waiting for.

My Cards: In this section, you can add, manage, and keep track of several payment methods. Additionally, you can connect your personalised Tallinja Card or Flex Card with the Tallinja App. This will enable you to view your transaction history, pay for any Tallinja On Demand bookings, and check for any new travel offers.

The Journey Planner: Plan your bus trips by choosing your departure location and your destination. The journey planner will suggest various bus routes for you to choose from.

On Demand: Tallinja On Demand is a public transport on-demand service. In this section, you can book a seat on one of our premium buses. Simply choose from which bus stop you would like to be picked up and from which bus stop you would like to be dropped off.

Favourites: Create your favourites list by clicking on the heart icon on the map view, including your most visited destinations or the bus stops or bus routes you use regularly.

Service Update: Check the map for caution signs that indicate alerts or service disruptions. Simply click on the alert tag to access detailed information about the service update. This feature ensures that you are aware of any changes that may affect your journey. Also, you can receive push notifications on service alerts happening on your saved favourite routes and bus stops. This way, you can plan your trips more effectively and stay up-to-date with any disruptions on your preferred routes.

Unreliable

Booking Tallinja On Demand is so unreliable. Most of the time it doesn’t work. I had to cancel 7 out of the last 10 trips because there’s a malfunction. You’ve lost a regular customer and I will NOT recommend other people from using this app 😡😡😡

App got worse

I take the on demand shuttle every day but ever since the update the app doesn’t update me when exactly the shuttle is coming besides giving me a timeframe (eg. 13:30-13:45). It used to be much better before the update when the app would notify me when the shuttle was 15, 10 or 5 minutes away along with its live location on the map. I had to cancel my last 3 trips I booked because the bus did not show up on the given timeframes and also because the app no longer notifies me when and where the bus is located. With this downgrade you have lost yourself a regular customer 👎

Used to be good

If i take the tallinja on demand it no longer shows where the bus is located, also now when i book it it says something went wrong and cant see info however it is booked

Barely usable

Routes with a transfer are never correct. Buses are always late, but there’s no option to view “previous” departures that haven’t actually taken place yet.

Worst top up system

If you are a tourist who stay for a few days, don’t use this app to top up your explorer flex card. I top up my card via this app. Even though the app shows that the balance is increased, in reality, that doesn’t mean you can use the balance immediately. You may need to wait 24hrs or even more to be able to use the new added balance. I have waited 24hrs so far and still the machine on the buses still show I don’t have enough balance. That’s annoying. ☹️

Inaccurate timetables

The time tables of the lines are incorrect. Yesterday I took bus TD14 from Rabat to San Giljan which was undoubtedly the quickest way. The app did show this route when I asked for the quickest way.

Never works

Can’t find routes, nor you current location. Really badly done. Looks nice enough, but doesn’t work.

Make update for iphone 6 and 6plus

Also build a live tracker in so that we can see where the bus at the moment is.
