I've been a subscriber of TCB for years simply because the content is excellent. It baffles me though that during all these years, the app, though looking very nice now, is still -and not lightly- bugged. Support doesn't reply to bug reports either (at least not to mine).

Subscribed. Spent 3 years getting a taste for the language in kiddy apps like duol…. About time I start working with proper material. So I‘m happy with this decision. Only problem is on iPad mini 6 the app corrupts the GUI when it wakes up from background. I have to restart every time. I wish the grammar were a bit less computer generated and repetitive and would consider what I flag as „I know this already“ for instance. Otherwise 5 stars.

The content is of great help to any Chinese learner. It gives you the flexibility you need when you want to progress in reading. - show pinyin or not (for all characters or only for those you want to disclose with a quick tap) - the audio of the texts and characters - the quick link to dictionary entries of any characters It helped me a great deal in the process of growing my Chinese from HSK3 to HSK5. I am now able to read traditional newspapers and therefore no longer need TCB. Thanks!

The texts of TCB are very well written and classified according to the corresponding HSK levels. This is a great feature for those of us who are working towards improving our Chinese reading skills gradually. A fee years back a was reading texts from HSK 3 and now I am already feeling comfortable with the ones from HSK 6! I hope that the TCB team will quickly adapt to the new HSK levels coming out soon! Another suggestion I have is that the TCB team partners with the dictionary app Pleco to enhance the feature of transferring the saved words from Pleco to the word bank of TCB. This would make the life of many Pleco users very useful, since they don't have a web version and the word bank of TCB is very good!

The app gives you all tools you can imagine to learn characters, the newspaper articles are prepared very well, so you can click on characters you don’t know and see the translation, the pinyin, and even how it sounds like. Literally the best way to learn reading properly.

Synchronization between Webversion and APP is just a pain in the ass and does not work at all. Besides this, good APP. Get the sync done and you are having powerful learning tool.

I do practice regularly by reading the grades texts and it sure helped building my reading and comprehension skills as well as building my vocabulary. Of course you can and should get help by native speakers to maybe get your pronunciation corrected. But as a general hub for graded texts I know nothing similar as TCB. Also the amount of vocabulary in each grade which stems from higher grades feels quite fitting, so you’re never overwhelmed. Great recommendation for serious learners!

The best app for practicing chinese if ever used. Learning by acquisition is a great approach to learning. Even worth paying for a subscription based model as new articles are released every single day, sometimes even serving as a genuine news source
