A really cool app that has helped me to improve my comprehension skills a lot. The wordbank feature that creates flashcards is also particularly cool.
A really great app. Highly recommended for anyone trying to improve Chinese reading and listening.
Great concept but glitchy
I’m paying for this too but can’t access articles. Remove bugs and this thing rocks.
Wonderful Chinese learning app
Great app for listening to news articles in Chinese while being able to touch on Chinese words with pinyin to see the translation as you listen.
One of the BEST apps EVER!
I have been studying Traditional Mandarin forever and always looking for new apps in order to improve my skills.
So years ago, I went through this fabulous The Chairman’s Bao and fell in love with it!
This year I made the decision of purchasing a few Mandarin lifetime subscriptions apps and can’t be happier with the decision I made !!!🤓🤩🙏🏻
Reading and listening are one of the keys in order to acquire a new language skills, especially if one wants to take it to a higher level.
This app focus on this -I would say - almost a 100%. It helps to connect audio, reading / sentences sequences, and Chinese characters , so you can practice memorizing as well.
The fact you can also read aloud these short stories and articles is a fantastic way to feel confident with Mandarin.
It’s amazing how many different words one can learn by reading this material regularly!!
One of the positive things about TCB is its huge and diverse library with different levels of vocabulary, which is renewed I think almost every day with new additions !
Please, give a try! You won’t regret!🙌🏻🌟🤩It’s SO easy to keep up with Mandarin this way!🫶🏻🥰
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I would like to thank Diego and his wonderful team for their patience and kindness!🙌🏻🤩

The one Chinese learning app you need
I’m so happy with the new TCB app! The team has done a great job and I’m convinced that TCB is really the only app one would need to study Chinese. Maybe the part that could use some improvement is the flash card system. However, TCB has integration with Hack Chinese - which I haven’t used yet - so I imagine it’s not a priority to tinker with. Maybe I’m using that feature incorrectly, but I can’t seem to get cards to sort from oldest to newest. And there’s no notification like in an SRS style flash card system of what you should be reviewing when. I use a free app for that part of learning but there’s also a lot of debate whether flash cards are even helpful. TCB gives students the tools to take charge of their learning and that is what I appreciate most. The audio for the stories is exceptional and the content is so interesting compared to a textbook. I genuinely enjoy reading the articles that are published. Thanks!
Bring your reading level up!
This is one of my most useful apps for learning Chinese characters In an interesting and meaningful way. I would like to see more variety in text sizing. I noticed some want the size to be smaller but I would like it to be larger especially the first time I’m studying an article. I do sometimes have glitches in the games section for some reason. I really like those games because my memory needs them to help retain the characters.
Love reading and learning with TCB
What a great app!
Good content but poor UI/UX
100% hands good content for what I’m looking for. I think the content is a good value for the money for me personally — paid for a year.
The three star rating is due to the minor bugs and poor UI/UX. It looks like it was designed by an engineer and a poor testing process. There is no cohesive color palette for the design. While I do applaud the content of the app, every time I use the app itself I notice more flaws: sometimes it loses the session of my account and I have to kill the app, inconsistent animations, random colors used for buttons, some articles have excessive white space at the bottom of articles, it doesn’t appear to cache the state of the app so it needs to refetch the page when I switch between different sections making it feel unnecessarily slow. I was going to switch to use the website instead of the phone app but the “mark as read” button on the website didn’t work so I am now stuck using iPhone app. I think the problems I describe are all solvable and the app has potential but for now it is what it is.
They don’t post enough content to make it worth it.
I like this app. But the don’t update the content enough to make it worth paying for. I would except multiple news articles for each level everyday, particularly advanced level like HSK 5 & 6. Canceled my subscription.
Chose again
Re-subscribed after an absence of a few years since the depth and breath of the app is huge. Try the app out , you will not be disappointed. We were assigned TCB in 4 th year mandarin class and students liked the app and approach, now I’m using the app again to keep learning on my own.
