Buggy app

The app lags and crashes too much, almost unusable even when I don’t have any other app opened.

Don’t subscribe!

Once you subscribe, there is no way to cancel subscription by yourself. To cancel, you have to chat with one of the agents who will take their own sweat time and ask you how you are doing and make four or five attempts to retain you before they actually cancel. You can easily spend 30 minutes chatting with them. They do not allow you to remove your payment information once you added. So you credit card i held hostage and it will be charged by forced auto-renewal, unless you make a lot of effort to interact with their customer service to cancel the subscription.

Not even worth a single star.,

I am a long-term reader of the Economist, so why only one star? Since they introduced a range of podcasts, I can no longer access my (paid) subscription on my iPhone. I can’t understand the “help” and the “chat” helper gave up. No way to help a severely handicapped subscriber aged 86? Shame on you!

can not use dictionary!

I am non English native and I can not use the dictionary by iphone while leadind in this new App. Please fix it as soon as possible.

Lookup function on iOS is disabled

When you encounter unfamiliar words or difficult words, you would press the words and lookup them on dictionaries. For a few weeks, this function doesn’t work. So there’s no meaning to use this apps. Just to use normal internet browser is much better now. It’s a huge disappointment even though I paid huge annual subscription fee.

unable to select text (version 3.34.0)

app has lost its text selection feature, rendering me unable to perform word dictionary lookups or web searches. This has greatly hindered my English learning experience. As it stands, the app has become almost useless for my purposes.

not useful update(3.33.2)

For readers who are not English-native, this update makies apps useless. This update blocks “search” and “translate” options for iOS, which enable dictionary and translating function. And cannot use 3rd party translating apps, either. Considering significant number of foreign reader who are studying English with the Economist, this update makes them use app less. I hope it to be fixed real soon.

Every topic always attracts me

I’m very interested in current issues all over the world. Especially regarding peace and poverty, I’m sure that The Economist picks up these updates. Thanks a lot. Akinobu Sano
