Worst app ever

They migrated to the new app and now you cannot access articles even though subscription has been paid. They walk you through 20 steps and in the end, still nothing resolved. Criminal behaviour

Been charged for app

Ive been charge for app during trial period,I've complained to apple support but still been charged

Bad app horrible company

App won’t allow you to cancel or even see basic info like billing dates. Forced onto a chat for half an hour to cancel, they sell hard and lie to you to try and keep your subscription. Avoid this company and app

Possibly the worst app in the world

Buggy: stops playing an audio article for no reason Unresponsive: buttons don’t respond when pushed. Crashes: turns itself off in the background at random Irritating: does not keep your place in an issue Willful: just plays an issue from the start at random Do they even make use of user testing or usability testing? So very dire for a $350 per year digital platform.

Great content horrible app

The Economist content is second to none. A subscription is pricey but delivers value. The app is terrible. Frequent bugs in both text and audio functionality. Currently randomly closing every five minutes which finally prompted me to review.

Content brilliant / app laggy

I love The Economist’s content but the app drives me bananas! It’s frustratingly laggy, even offline. It frequently sits, doing nothing, for 5-10 seconds before waking up. Pleeeease get the devs to get the delivery platform as good as the content.

I love The Economist for its combination of news, tech, opinions, science, art… an eclectically wide range of topics. It’s my preferred way of staying in touch with the world’s weirdness, horror and hope. But the app is deeply frustrating: for the past 4-5 months, which is through the course of multiple updates, it freezes when swiping through pages unless you swipe fully across the screen, and the podcast player crashes if you try to rewind more than 30 seconds, so if you miss something because of a distraction mid-podcast, there’s a good chance you’ll have to restart the podcast and find your place once more… as I said: deeply frustrating… Please fix these basic issues as a priority in your next update!

Great, but for marketers’ “dark patterns”

I would love to give this app five stars. It is vastly better than previous versions. Technically, the only fault I can find is a bit of sluggishness when selecting items on the main screen. The real fault, as usual, is with The Economist’s marketing weasels. I gladly pay The Economist hundreds of pounds per year for a subscription. I should NOT have to defend myself from repeated attempts to further monetise my attention by selling me out to the usual array of bottom-feeding surveillance marketing companies, Yes, you remember my choice to turn off all but essential cookies - but every time this “privacy” popup appears, you covertly try to re-enable a whole different list of buttons under the “Legitimate Interest” tab! This is contemptible behaviour. Stop it. If I tell you that I do not want these scum to stalk me, then remember that too - and never ask me again! Don’t try to put one over on me every few weeks, hoping I’ll slip up just the once. You should, you can, be better than that.

Great publication; terrible app

Crashes, freezes, and unworkable audio. I actively choose to read articles on the website instead.
