Quality journalism but …

I cannot understand why the business folks at NYT make cancelling a subscription or changing credit card details so difficult. They actually require you to speak to a live agent - no options online. To make things worse, there isn’t a toll-free number to call from most countries. So, you have to pay to cancel or change credit card details. Terrible customer service!!!

IPhone 7 users cannot use this app anymore

Only iPhones running ios16 and above can update to the latest iteration of this app.

Enable dark mode

Would be greatttt to not have to subject myself to staring at the surface of the sun to read the news…

They kept charging me for 5 months after confirming cancelation

5 month ago, I canceled my subscription through chat after 2-week of subscribing with them. It is through chat because they do not let you cancel through automatic process. The person asked me over and over again if I wanted to cancel, and BTW, he also offered me a lower price to get me to stay! I insisted to cancel and he confirmed. However, when I noticed that I have been charged for 5 months today, I was very upset demanded a refund. They said they have no record of cancelation, and hence they cannot give me the refund. I just still cannot believe an international, well-founded media can do this. It’s more like a scam. This is truly disgusting. Do not subscribe with them.

Review

Overall a great app. It's well categorised and i like playing the mini games after reading. Easy to search too. But, sometimes it glitches and i have to tap the screen a few times for it to come back on. Still, like i said before, overall a great app

Dark mode

Please consider seriously to introduce the dark mode feature which is a common feature but currently lacking on the mobile app. Will consider subscribing to NYT if the dark mode is introduced

The app doesn’t have dark mode, not great for reader with sensitive eyesight or vestibular vertigo. Please consider this in your future update.

Great content, slow app

Love the content, but the app has become really slow. It’s laggy everywhere, flashing unnecessarily. Not a good experience at all. And it could do with less advertising.
