Adored the idea, disliking the very technical UI and weird kind of bugs on IOS

User02711111 on

The app idea is truly amazing and extremely helpful to stay mentally organized in the immense ocean of data we currently sailing in, however I don’t like the very technical UI design, still gotta give credit for some of the great features like the text edit tools and facility of navigation on the iphone app versus the pc version where it took me some time to figure out and not being integrated on the main menu in an amazing Evernote style. On the other hand, surprisingly tonight, I just realized that the app crashed when I switched my keyboard from English to arabic. Probably some kind of bot will scan my comment and alert the team about the language issue, just already laughing about the upcoming memes about Thebrain app being racist and disliking arabic keyboard 😂 seriously tho, incredibly great app and brilliant minds behind, so thank you very much and count me in the happily paid subscribers soon as my trial ends! Cheers🥂

Great for Knowledge, Information, and Thinking Management

Since its appearance on the market, I’ve been using this application. It evolved considerably since then, but it kept its uniquely creative approach. This is way more than traditional mindmapping. You can use it to create mega maps, and when you need to correlate or otherwiase link complex sets of informations in the most efficient way, this application is unbeatable. You will find more advanced and comprehensive versions of this application either on the Mac or Windows, but they all work together. The level of refinement and sophistication of TheBrain is impressive. This is a higly professionnal application that I use for the sake of cognitive synergy, in other words, to set a wonderful synergy between my thinking processes and the increasing affordances provided by modern computer technology. I never regretted using this wonderful application and I highly recommend it. Conrad Lavallee

Vastly improved

I’ve been a huge user of TB for some time. I really like seeing images in the iOS notes section. However, there is one bug I was hoping would be fixed in the iOS version. Unfortunately it’s still there. Don’t paste an image into the iOS Notes section. While it displays on the iPad, the image isn’t copied into the cloud server. That means if you are using any other platform, the image won’t appear. All that you see is a square box outline. Then after a few syncs, the image in iOS will disappear leaving just the square box. Bottom line: your work is lost. The workaround until the problem is fixed is to store the image as an attachment. From a platform other than iOS, you can copy and paste the attachment into the Notes section. It will then appear everywhere including iPad and iPhone. Update: v9.1.5 fixes the copy & paste problem. Update: One measure of confidence is how frequently updates are released. v11.0.3 is an example how far the software has progressed. The Notes editor is vastly improved. Known faults have been fixed. Are there still bugs? Sure there are and always will be as new features are added or changes are made to iOS such as introducing dark mode. My suggestion is go the full route with the Cloud sync option. Then you’ll have TB on all your devices - iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone.

Long time user, rely on this software daily

I’ve been with TheBrain for a long time and have been a satisfied customer throughout. If you are looking for a powerful, nonlinear file and note management system, this is the app,I action I would recommend. The team is constantly upgrading and improving the software and available to provide assistance as required by subscribers. I can’t say enough about how much great this application has been for my purposes. Highly recommend.

Hang, hang, hang...

Adrian72 on

Not sure if this is specific to iOS10, but I tried adding the mobile app to my desktop workflow, and it is way to buggy to use. Almost any action leads to a hang in the program, with no warning (like spinning beachball) that it is doing anything. It also always opens on a stale thought, and doesn't update (like the desktop app) to where you were when you left.

Way too slow

It seems to take forever to create thoughts. Also no pinch zoom that I find should be part of the UI.

Great In theory

I heard about this app and was very eager to try it out. Sadly I was disappointed by an app that kept on freezing and looked as if the UI hasn't been updated in years. I really wish it would get a much needed update, because I definitely see potential in this app.

Thank-you for fixing.

This app and IPad go together so handily. I use mainly for note taking. I find I can keep up to a presenter's theme while adding my own twist, super handy. Cudos to Apple and The Brain.

Broken under iOS 9

Audio Otaku on

Canada

The app fails to sync and open brains after iOS 9 install. Before this, the app was worth five or more stars.

Requires an account just to try

Essentiae on

Others report that the account is very expensive, and I tend to avoid apps that lock up data behind accounts (especially if that data might be important data).
