Cancellation

I’ve been told you have 3 months free trial on your contract,if you are not happy within those three months,you’re free to cancel for free. I called customer service to cancel and I’ve been told I need to pay £326 cancellation fee plus remaining months of the contract which runs until July 2025. How is that even possible when I’ve been told it’s a trial n free ?
