TomTom MyDrive FAQ
Is TomTom MyDrive free?
Yes, TomTom MyDrive is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is TomTom MyDrive legit?
⚠️ The TomTom MyDrive app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Just as other users have reported, connecting a Rider 550 to an iPhone is impossible. The app just constantly says ‘connection problem’ even though the devices are paired.
So to get updates of traffic and avoid road closures, the Tomtom is useless. I have had to set up an iPhone holder and use Google maps as an alternative if routes are closed.
I seem to recall a Garmin I had allowed you to tap ‘diversion’ if roads were blocked and it would find alternatives - another thing this TomTom doesn’t do.
Very disappointed with this lack of functionality on an otherwise excellent piece of kit.
Finally getting somewhere
The sequence of setting up you have to do takes a bit of experimenting -you have to factory
reset your tomtom
then activate the my drive app and finally get everything going. If you add a headset this also works with tomtom but then knocks out the messages or incoming call being displayed. I would ask
Tomtom to try to make this more fail safe so you don’t have to have two bluetooth connections in the iphone -please note once you switch off the tomtom
you might have to sync apps again (a toggle button in one of the bluetooth connections on the iphone) for it to work again-certainly if the wee telephone appears on the screen you are able to press this and it will
always give you a siri prompt to voice dial your loved ones. Still some work to perfect and then might be a really useful app
App will not allow adding places
Every time I try to add a place onto my places even though I have selected where the location is it keeps moving and adding in about 50 metres down the road.
This app needs sorting out but just like the lack of support on Tom Tom website this will never happen.
Tom Tom you used to be good. But after my unit gives up the ghost I’m moving onto another better system!
You only gave yourselves to blame!
Keeps freezing
This was a great tool to use alongside Tomtom Go Expert but now it freezes and shuts down not sure why got the latest updates please TomTom look into this issue
Great idea in theory but never works
The app doesn’t sync to the TomTom despite it stating differently in my phones settings. I spent quite a significant time planning a route then it wouldn’t send the route to my satnav. I’d expect a problem like this to happen about 20 years ago when Bluetooth was new but in 2024 I would have hoped we had moved on. Please fix.
Rider 550 Connection success
I’m pleased to change my review after recent tests with the latest version of TomTom Rider 550 software (release dated 26/03/2024). I have successfully observed fully functioning connectivity. Here is the hardware and software used in the initial test.
iPhone 11 (iOS 17.4.1)
TomTom Rider 550 (24.100.0001.411 (0) (26/03/2024))
My Drive App 2.13.3
Sena 20S EVO Headset (v2.2.2)
Siri activated.
I have had to restart and reconnect devices and experiment with the TomTom/iPhone Bluetooth settings but have now seen it work as expected, with the TomTom Rider 550 call button activating Siri on my phone and the audio resulting directed to my headset. I also successfully make a phone call initiated from the TomTom call and voice activated by Siri on the phone and audio in the headset. I’m hoping that the connection is reliable on a test ride on the bike. I will update again with the outcome. Thanks for fixing. I am now feeling hopeful the functionality will be working for this year’s motorcycle riding. 🤤
Can’t share my planned routes
The app is great for planning routes and saving them to my account, and am able to use them in my TomTom satnav however, for some reason it is impossible to share my planned routes with friends who also have a TomTom account..
Get it sorted guys, please… your letting yourselves and us down.
Route to linking to phone doesn’t work
I totally agree with Steve’s comment. In trying to link my new Tom Tom to my phone via the QR code or the web address cited on the Tomtom, both lead to an Error page. The app on Apple also doesn’t work. I’ve spent money but not getting the functionality I paid for.
Rubbish, and the beta version is worse
No longer syncs with new device, can create multi drops, but will not sync to device, you can save the route, it then shows as a route on device, but stops show on device, but times just show it as one drop, cannot get times between each drop, yet nothing g gets done, pure rip off
Can’t sync contacts
Decided to get the TomTom for safety so I no longer needed to use my phone for navigation. The main selling point was to be able to see my messages show on the screen. No matter how many times I have tried to installed and uninstalled the app, followed the tutorials and pressed the info buttons, I cannot sync my messages. It says Bluetooth not connected on the main settings view of the satnav but when clicking into it, it shows my phone is connected. I have made sure all settings on my phone allow access to my contacts. Any one have any clue????
