OVERVIEW:
UK Salary Calculator provides a simple numerical breakdown of your PAYE income, or a comparison of two different salaries. It is intended for use by residents, employers, and job seekers in the United Kingdom. Also available for MacOS.

FEATURES:
Yearly, monthly, 4-weekly, weekly, daily and hourly breakdown of income tax, national insurance contributions, pension contributions, student loan, employer's national insurance contributions, company car tax, fuel benefit charge, child benefit, high income child benefit tax, gross salary and net salary. It calculates your overall effective tax rate and your marginal tax rate (the rate at which your next pound of earnings will be taxed at). The app is also compatible with the Scottish income tax system and accommodates the 6-tier tax rate structure.

It calculates your default tax allowance based on your age & income, and has facilities for adding additional allowances, customising student loan thresholds, adding salary sacrifices, modifying the numbers of days & hours you work, adding in childcare vouchers, marriage allowances, custom tax codes & deductions. It automatically reduces your personal allowance if you earn above the £100k income threshold.

UK Salary Calculator is fully reversible, meaning you can either enter your gross salary to see what your pay will be after deductions, or you can enter a net salary that you'd like to be your take home pay and UK Salary Calculator will tell you what you need to earn as a gross wage to make that happen. This app is therefore perfect for nannies, or individuals who employ a nanny, given their typical net-pay arrangements. It also caters for auto-enrolment pensions and has a setting to enable the lower/qualifying earnings limit threshold.

It is useful for employees and employers alike; whether you are looking to check your pay packet to ensure it's right, or to see what your earnings should/could be. It is also useful to see what your take home earnings will be in the next financial year or in another job. All calculations are based on data provided by HMRC and the Student Loan Company.

The company car tax feature allows you to input your car's P11D value & CO2 emissions and the app will automatically calculate the appropriate tax deductions and fuel benefit charge, if required.

Salary sacrifices, allowances, and deductions can be input on a £'s/Year, £'s/Month, £'s/4-Week or £'s/Week basis. Pension can be added as a percentage or an amount.

Results are easily shared and exported via email.

The price of the subscription is clearly advertised during the purchasing process. You are under no obligation to purchase this service. Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at the time of purchase if you choose to subscribe.

For annual subscriptions, your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, at the current price and currency of the subscription for your region.

Subscriptions may be managed by you at any time and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings after purchase.

Doesn’t retain settings

Whenever I go back to use this I’ve got to re-enter some details. E.g the fact that I want to use Scottish tax rates and not the default ones.

Updated ————————- To repeat “This is a great app, LOVED it for years.” I wouldn’t have complained about the GDPR issues if I didn’t have strong positive feelings about your app. I believe your app is the high bar for which others should aim. This is why I felt so strongly that your previous implementation of the cookie screen (that you accurately state many others use) was so egregious. As with all other uses of this pre-rolled cookie UI it didn’t place any obvious ’do not consent’ anywhere near the ‘accept’ option which is a huge no no in the GDPR world (more specifically PECR). It also allowed the so called ‘consented legitimate interests’ which is an oxymoron as no such legitimate interest can be a consent nor can the things each claimed be a legitimate interest. I am very glad you took my points on board and addresses them all. I have gone back and checked and now you are legally compliant. I tell people all the time that your app is the only one to choose for all salary information, so it meant those people who also know my qualifications related to GDPR and the DPA before began questioning me as to how I could recommend the app. I personally understand the difficulties vs the passion for an app project that you sometimes feel isn’t worth the time when you get criticised. I did the same before I fell very ill and now have little time left. But, constructive criticism, however disappointingly written should be taken onboard and if valid, should be addressed. You did that. I am now 100% happy with the app and congratulate you for listening, seeing through your likely annoyance and rectify something that you may not have realised would get you in legal peril as well as reducing confidence in your users. GDPR placing a necessary burden on you even if it is third parties that do the collection of data as it is you that used the thing that enables that collection of data. If something you add causes any data collection you are responsible for it. Thank you for being a great developer. Original ————————- This is a great app, loved it for years. However, there is no excuse for having so much data shared with 3rd parties. There is no excuse to have a cookie consent system that includes the pretence that some things are “legitimate interest” when they clearly breach GDPR by capturing and using data that is not fundamental to the operation of the app and instead collecting data of the user and sharing it with companies who are illegally obtain

Exceptional Developer Response and Anticipated App Update

I recently reached out to the developer regarding the incorporation of the NI January 2024 updates. I was delighted to receive a prompt response informing me that he is presently coding these changes. This swift and efficient communication is commendable, and I eagerly await the forthcoming release.

The best app to calculate income

I have tried several but this one is the one you need. Works to the “.”. Very helpful app. It updates with the latest values and rules.

Superb - the only UK app that does what I need

It’s a rarity I leave any reviews never mind a 5-star review. However this app is excellent, flexible, accurate….it does exactly what I need and I’ve downloaded plenty of apps in this salary/tax category. And the support is second-to-none….its all personally managed and really helpful. Don’t waste your time with any other app - get this one.

Best UK Tax app

I have been using this for a few years now and have also compared it to other apps and this is by far the easiest to configure and accurate to within pennies (at least in my case). Please try this out and give Rhys the encouragement to continue developing this each year.
