Use the desktop app “Unifi Network Server”
The app was incapable of setting up a single AP on its own (tried with two devices). Using the desktop app I was able to get these working and have access to far more advanced tools.
Update all settings and network
Such a shame - been using this for years but unfortunately the recent update has lost all the settings and config. Unable to log in or control any items on the network. It can see the CK but cannot actually do anything beyond display the IP/MAC/hostname. The only thing it lets you do is watch a Youtube video on setting it up as a new customer…
Update has caused lost home network
Since the update last night my home network controller is lost and I cannot re-add the controller to the app. The app can see the controller but there is no option to open the network controller.
Improving
App is getting better now finally. Hopefully no more functionality is removed and things are only added to. Be great to see the modem in the UK and support Virgin Media! Start the conversation please.
UniFi update
New review Dec 2023: Wow things have improved a lot with both the mobile app and the web controller app. Massively better in every way and it’s very rare I need to switch back to the old legacy interface to do something. Ubiquiti has also finally brought out their new routers express/lite and finally got rid of the USG3. As a major installer of Unifi products one concern is that it looks like ubiquity is slowly taking away self hosted controller powers. Like why can’t we do SD-WAN? On self hosted. Ubiquiti needs to understand that we want the option of self hosting controllers for our customers. Otherwise we do a lot for nothing. Don’t take it away and make sure it has the same powers as the ubiquiti official version. Review Dec 2021: When Uniquiti first came out with UniFi it was amazing and groundbreaking. Then a few years later they just about wrecked everything with terrible changes, broken updates, poor customer support, the web app changes where unusable, vpn support shocking and generally I was about to leave the brand completely. Recently they had serious availability problems of stock globally and still do to a degree. They also didn’t tell the Public that they are discontinuing certain products. Then they brought out good replacements but some of the consumer units could have been faster in todays gigabit world that needs packet inspection. Nevertheless I am still using their stuff but things have improved recently. The UniFi software is more usable, improved products have finally been released but I am not sure if it’s too little too late and we just about need the next generation already, vpn has improved, mobile app is good but still can’t do certain thing like change WiFi schedule for example, firmware versions seem more stable vs disastrous releases like we had for a while, so overall it’s gone from good to bad and back to good again. 7/10 let’s hope things improve more in all respects.
Unable to open unifi os settings?
Since last few updates the unifi os settings will not open in the app?
Critical update
Never ending critical update warning. Never completes and when logging in via a web browser everything is updated. Get your act together with this. It’s overpriced, underpowered and poorly maintained.
An ok app but one big problem
The app is completely incapable of sending a 2FA text message or email with a code!! Works fine on a web browser. Makes the app completely unusable. Still waiting for 2FA to start working….. tumbleweed waiting. Slowly moving stuff away from Ubiquiti now, no stock, awful support.
