Amazing app

hughhuhuhuhuhuhygft on

Great tool for dyslexics. Helped me get a first class degree.

Part of my life now

Abdullah A. Hassan on

I can’t live without this app. My only gripe is crashes when loading huge ePub books. I like reading web novels and some of these are huge (350 hour monolithic LitRPG sagas with html tables and such). It becomes impossible to switch to rich text mode and I’m stuck with basic text only, which I don’t really mind but it would be great if that worked. I know it’s a daunting technical challenge to load such huge files, but maybe partition it per chapter and only load the relevant data needed to display the part I’m currently reading? It’s a great app overall and totally worth a purchase. Also, I can’t thank the devs enough for the constant updates and QoL improvements they constantly add.

Very impressive

Peter nyc on

This program does what it says, and does it well. Unlike similar programs, I’ve tried it works flawlessly. I use it mainly on my iPad. Other programs seem to have pauses miss words. This one doesn’t jump or miss words. Very satisfied.

Robotic voice

Angle low on

No way of trialing unless a yearly subscription is purchase. I have purchased but the voices are so bad, even the premium voices. Can’t even get a refund. I do not recommend this.

Simply brilliant.

Victoria Schechter Monteiro on

As a visually impaired PhD student, I have to read and take notes practically all day. This app increased my productivity so much I can’t even start to say. The note-taking and highlighting function is really intuitive for someone used with voiceover and works perfectly, no crashes, never going back to the wrong spot in the text. The OCR function is the best I’ve ever used, and all in one app! Plus: it uses very little of my devices’ batery. If I could suggest something it would bean option to export thehighlights and notes together with the text, as a word document, for example, so I can share an annotated text with sighted colleagues, for example. But that’s maybe asking too much. Not the cheapest of resources but I feel grateful to pay for something with such an inclusive and useful design for visually impaired screen reader users.Thank you so much to the developers. I can’t believe it took me so long to find out about Voice Dream!

Deceptive

Appaled, from Tunbridge Wells on

This formerly apparently nice app is now a “free” download that sets up an in-app-subscription that would deduct £60 from the users account a week after downloading (and then every year). Charging more than a Netflix subscription for what is an admittedly nice wrapper around Apple’s “spoken content” feature seems brazen.

Best all round

njke on

I have been using this app for about 10 years and it is easily one of the best, most stable and most used apps of mine. A steal at the price. Integrates brilliantly with Pocket (getpocket.com). You can also copy the clipboard (that is any text) into a a VoiceStream document ... you can then listen to this with your favourite voice. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

scam

Abidscorpion on

free premium voice not downloading. its a rip off. avoid.

This is excellent - here’s why

riojah on

I have to give this five stars because it’s the most complete TTS and almost an alternative audiobook app. The integrated controls, the configuration, support for Dropbox etc make this the most feature complete solution. If you don’t want to pay the Premium then Speech Central has most of these features for a lower price. Speech Central is also very active and approachable on Reddit and Twitter. The extra Ivona voice did set me back £5 extra but I knew it would and it’s money well spent. Although the voice of Speechify is still the most natural there are too many downsides. Start with Speech Central and make sure you check with them if you think features are missing. If you want what I consider currently the best then choose this one. HTH.

Nefarious , money hungry company, they’ll try to scam you.

foooin on

You purchase a previous verisimilitude of the app, and they don’t let you access it because they increased the price and they want you to pay that increase! Don’t do it the app is not worth it at all.
