Doesn’t load and crashes
Great concept but the app doesn’t work. Every time I go to report a problem (so they can update the app) it isn’t says ‘oops’.
To access the academy to watch the videos which you need to get the certificate, it doesn’t load.
The help and support page doesn’t load and crashes.
Even when I went onto the website itself it doesn’t open certain pages.
And when reporting a problem on Apple it takes you to a page that doesn’t exist.
Needs fixing asap!
What’s the point in having the app if it doesn’t even let you sign up?
It doesn’t make any sense
It doesn’t make any sense to pay to use Worldpackers, study to get certificates, fill a profile, make a video talking, and then answer all the questions for the hosts. When they just don’t even reply to say at least “sorry we can’t” they just don’t care and let expired the applications…
Overhyped
Decided to try something new and trust the hype on Tiktok but ended up disappointed. Not many opportunities, hosts either don’t respond to you at all or decline you claiming they have enough volunteers already but yet they appeared in the search constantly. App seems to be more focused on endless online certifications rather than connecting people. Wish I could get a refund.
Great app though crashes
I think this app is absolutely amazing and offers so many opportunities. However the app could use some work, it often crashes, often when writing an application. It doesn’t save a draft of these applications, so everything you’ve written gets deleted. I suggest writing everything elsewhere then copying and pasting in.
Poorly built app
No matter what page you navigate too, you are constantly met with “Oops! Something went wrong! Please try again later” it’s been like this for years. Terribly built.
Unable to login/recover password
What makes this app useless: When using “login with Apple ID”, I am able to login only using the app, not the website. This is because iPhone memorises passwords by the host name, which in this case is NOT worldpackers.com. I have no idea which of the saved passwords belongs to their site. Deleted this app.
Why does it need my birthday?
FB login requires my birthday and friends list. Why? Uninstalled.
Conning the ignorant
Seems that this just preys on young and naive gap year students. Most the “placements” are based with for-profit businesses that simply want free labour. Some offer a meal or two and (shared) accommodation but none of them pay anything. So, unless you take some savings with you, be prepared to graft or do a whole lot of nothing while a business continues to make money off you!
Some other jobs include teaching English as a foreign language. Again, for no payment. Do yourself a favour, sign up to a proper agency and get paid for your efforts! Or be exploited so you can “see the world” aka wash dishes and maybe see an elephant.
