Description

SCIENTIFIC:
We run the world’s largest in-depth nutritional research program, in collaboration with scientists from Harvard University, Mass General Hospital, Stanford University and Kings College London.

PERSONALIZED:
Our studies show that one-size-fits-all nutrition just doesn't work. So the ZOE program starts with the most comprehensive at-home test available – analyzing your gut microbiome, blood sugar, and blood fat – to get an accurate picture of your unique biology.

CUTTING_EDGE:
The impact of food on your metabolism is more complex than just calories in. Which is why we use the latest developments in machine learning and the microbiome to understand how gut microbes influence your health and weight.

NO FOOD OFF LIMITS:
We know most of our members have tried other programs in the past. But members tell us that ZOE feels different. You won't count points, calories or macros here and that can feel really liberating. Instead you'll learn what your own body needs and see that playing with your food is actually pretty fun!

SUPPORTED:
You'll have support and guidance from our ZOE Coaches every step of the way. All our coaches are trained in the ZOE method with a deep understanding of nutrition science. So you're in safe hands.

HOW ZOE WORKS

1. Your body is unique. So we'll start with a comprehensive, easy-to-use, at-home test to understand your biology from all angles – gut microbiome, blood sugar, and blood fat.
2. Our detailed insight reports compare your test results to thousands of other people. Revealing how your body works and which foods will nourish it.
3. You'll then put your insights into action with a personalized program – helping you work towards your health and weight goals with motivating challenges and supporting lessons each week.
4. Finally, make it your own! We know restrictive diets don't work. So with ZOE no food is off limits. You'll use the app to learn how to build great meals and see that with the right combinations your body can have a better response to what you eat and you can avoid dietary inflammation.

Love love love

I think it is a great app, their approach is fantastic. Still working the intolerances but when that becomes available it will be just perfect I think. More research on gut health is also needed, it seems this is the path.

Zoe app

Gut babe on

I’m finding the app extremely informative as it is informing me of which foods I can eat without causing a spike in my blood sugar. I like the recipes and lessons too. All in all- it’s like having a dietician holding my hand.

A struggle

London1948373 on

Trying to take the test has proven difficult and frustrating for me as you are given quite vague advance information about what you need to do on test day, and then on the day itself I woke up to a notification sent at 1am which finally released the detailed instructions within the app, but the first instruction said I was 8 hours overdue applying the sensor! Surely a reminder at or before the time I was supposed to apply the sensor would have been more appropriate? You also cannot take the test in the weeks before a summer holiday (not allowed to swim with the sensor on) nor really when travelling (harder to have clear time for the test and manage what you eat) so anyone who travels internationally, has a professional job and childcare commitments might struggle to take the test especially with the guesswork on the timings and tasks. It would be good if the designers considered the needs of people with busier lifestyles and made reminders and timing information more prominent in advance.

Not sure

Enjoyed the testing and results but I’m BORED with all the nuts and seeds I should be eating, also hate avocado which it wants me to substitute all the time. Bit demoralising when you’ve followed all day and your score is great, then you might eat one thing and score goes down below the 75 score. I’m signed up for a year but will definitely cancel after that.

Early days

I’ve been doing the Zoe programme for just one week since the first two weeks of testing . I love the clarity of the food options and the interesting recipes on offer. Many of them are vegetarian and vegan, which is fine…I often struggle to dream up tasty veggie meals! On the negative side I did one recipe with three different measurements, some ingredients were in ounces, some in cups and others in grams 🙈…I coped but we Brits don’t generally use cups, especially small percentages of a cup. However, this way of eating is suiting me. I no longer have a bloated sick feeling that I shouldn’t have eaten something. I’m sleeping like a baby (unheard of) and have more energy. Neither am I hungry. Thank you.

Great science terrible implementation

The science and the theory behind ZOE is fantastic. But the app has many problems. Whoever tests an app approves the app needs to try a different career or be properly trained. They ought to give the app to their grandmother and see how they get on. There is a lack of navigation at the moment you can’t get to the chat to ask questions unless you go into >>settings >>profile >>payments >>contact us. The app is really designed for teenagers. ZOE has a lot of cult type tendencies of people who obviously live in the ZOE world. They are unable to communicate with those that don’t live in that world. The testing period does not seem to be thought out for example. The first breakfast I was recommended to have said you will have one of these seven things in your cupboards, I had none of them. I had to go out shopping and buy the ingredients. The instructional movies are very good. But it would be very helpful if they had instructional movies that you could see before you embarked on the program rather than have movies appearing after the event. For example, attaching the device to measure your blood sugar there was no instructional movies until after the device was attached. Directions you need to follow with no warning food you’re meant to eat with no warning. You can’t buy food in advance because you don’t know what it is you’re going to need until you need it! The program involves lots of shopping because you have to keep on going out buying things you didn’t know you were going to need. They assume that you are very experienced at dieting and talk as if you’re very familiar with it so if you’re not, you get left a little bit in the dark. I could go on more about the problem, but basically the science is good. I cannot understand how smart people can make such bad choices on how to implement the program.

The service is a scam

Magdalena0011 on

Results tell you nothing more than “your microbiome is ok/good” and they charge you $400 for the test and $60 a month to access your own results. It is a scam and very difficult to cancel membership. I have been tricked into it

Best app I’ve had to date

Sparra111 on

This app is really intuitive, attractive and engaging. It’s an example of how all apps should be. - No wondering how to do something, - really cleverly laid out to make best use of the screen - the way the tasks are laid out encourage you to really explore the functionality fully and get the most out of the app. - the way the information is presented is engaging in a way I’ve not seen before. Really impressive, thank you.

Not for the long term

You5364 on

Really enjoyed Zoe to start with although I was very disappointed when they reviewed the bio scores. I went from excellent to poor! Overall I learnt a lot but once you get the hang of things there’s no ongoing support or further testing so I really do not see why you would keep paying. Great to review how your eating and how your body reacts to different food. Make changes and then I’m afraid unless something changes it’s bye to Zoe.
