Background: Just got an iPhone and was disappointed by the health and fitness native apps. After Samsung health, these seem more like proof of concept rather than consumer ready apps. So I thought to try the “app of the year” in the apple ecosystem. In random order: Although this app reads the metrics from the native sleep app, it couldn’t figure out when I actually went to bed even tho there is a schedule in place! So it shows some random clocks with some circles that make 0 sens to tell it which corresponds more to my sleep??? Are you joking? Moreover the app tracked me as sleeping even 1 hr after getting out of bet after the sleep schedule set in the native app ended. So probably there is a lot of setting up to do but I have no patience for that. This shouldn’t be complicated at all. All I wanted was to see some sort of sleep score based on average sleep needs. Instead the app is cluttered with info that you already got, with settings and menus scattered everywhere that make 0 sense. At between that mess at some point you might see a somewhat “score” that is more or less based on the percentage of sleep that you didn’t get compared to a goal that you set. In conclusion this app is a clutter of graphs that want to be used as “sleep analysis”. Personally I have no use for this. I don’t want to analyze my sleep myself, I want the app to analyze the sleep for me and tell me the result. And maybe after to look into some more in depth analytics, maybe. Although a bit simplistic, Samsung’s health app is the perfect example of how a sleep app should work and present the results. Gets 2 star for the effort but I wouldn’t consider this a sleep tracking app for consumers, but maybe a sleep analysis app.
One time purchase for an amazing sleeping app
So.Much.Data from this app. To the point that you don’t really know what to do with them, or how to interpret them. I mean, if you have slept well, you know. If not, again you know. This app confirms this feeling with a lot of data, to the point that, if you see the “wellness rings” a bit of, you might ruin your day. Overall, good experience.

AutoSleep is the most accurate and best sleep app out today. Trust me, I’ve tried them all. A+
When I sit down for an extended time in the morning, at least if I haven’t done some exercise, AutoSleep ignores the fact that I pressed buttons telling it that sleep time was over, and counts ~2 hours more sleep. (No, I never snooze at my desk; and while there may have been a time when I took multiple power naps a day, it’s now down to one a week or less.) Then, when I wake up the next morning and look at my regularity, it’s never positive; I’ve slept *only* 8 hours, compared to 9:16 average over the last week. It’s neat that it distinguishes between wake, light sleep, deep, and still sleep. But from what I’ve found so far, still sleep is different from REM sleep, and I’m very much interested in how much REM I get. I really like the Sleep Fuel and Readiness boxes in the morning’s report.
I’ve been using this app for two years now, on the recommendation of a friend. It is really really good – tracks everything I need to know in order to help me tune my sleep habits. I do not install apps that collect personal data which can be the very limiting. This app collects no data.
