I have been using DS Video for a good part of 1.5-2 years and loved it. But recently the DMS 7.2.2 update state it cannot be installed without deleting first but also it is unsupported. 😡! I have a library of over 650 movies and TV shows I could watch without issue on my FireStick TV. And I LOVED my computer could be off and still have access to my content. I’m currently trying Plex (I don’t like it) and VLC (it’s okay) but so far NOTHING compares to DS VIDEO to me. Please make a new version to work with the new DSM update!!!!!

The app does what I need it to do for the most part, but one of the most frustrating things is the inability to jump forward or backward by 10 second increments, which is especially frustrating on the Apple TV version of the app. This seems like it would be an easy fix, so why hasn’t it been fixed? Update a couple of years later: MAN I wish Synology would bring this app into the modern era. Years later we STILL don’t have a 10/30 second skip forward/skip backward function. Not to mention the lack of Autoplay Next Episode (works on Apple TV but not on other IOS devices). It’s just so behind the times. I’m not expecting Netflix, Prime, or Paramount+ levels of refinement and functionality here, but I’d at least like to see some basics added into the app. Need to remove one of my original three stars from the rating. NEEDS SERIOUS WORK!

I’ve thought the library management/organization system has been poor for a while but it is pathetic that the app will not play (does not even try) videos over an encrypted connection. I am running on latest iPad Air (2024) so it is not a hardware issue. I’m also on the same network so it is not an Internet connection speed issue. As for the library, the app doesn’t even show all of the content that is in a directory or that is shown in the video station app when working on PC.

This app works flawlessly and is great for quickconnect… so it is a stupid decision by Synology to end support for this incredible app and media player.

Missing Picture-In-Picture functionality, which is a huge bummer as that has been a standard feature on video content viewers for a long time, by tech standards. Synology DEV team, pleeeeeease update!

I like this player because it is simple, lightweight, and works well with my Diskstation video library. It also provides an easy way to download videos so I can view on an airplane. However, downloaded videos does not show the nice poster/tile view as folders on my DS server. Developers: please show nice poster view for downloaded videos.

Trying to play any video returns an ‘Unable to play video’ error. Then the whole app breaks.

Ridiculous that after all these years, this app doesn’t support picture-in-picture on iPad, or any kind of background playback whatsoever. These features have been supported in iOS for a LONG TIME, and everybody else has them. As far as I’m concerned, that basically makes it useless.
