Since 1 Month that my light bulbs stop working good with Home app and obviously don’t work with my HomePods. It says “No response”, it’s ridiculous that the most expensive smart home system as Apple can’t even repair this situation. All starts after iOS 18 update. Before this OS every item was working perfectly. I also have Alexa and Google Home and there’s no problem with them. So definitely the problem is Apple.
To use the app you need to enable Keychain sync. To enable Keychain you need to agree to Apple's preconceived notion that you're too stupid to keep a password safe and thus enable MFA which is only good to help you lose access to your devices. I already did that, got into issue even though I prepared for it and Apple was useless to help me regain access to an account, on the flipside Apple's alleged security was also useless preventing me to hack my own devices. Regardless, the requirement for Keychain is idiotic at best. It might acceptable assuming I want to sync devices, and that's a stretch. What if I don't want them synced though? Or what if I want to sync using anything other than iCloud? That's a very unlikely hypothetical since Apple stopped trying to be interoperable with anything the minute it achieved market dominance, but still. What if your device is under MDM? What if you don't want to use an iCloud account. It was supposed to "the Exchange for the rest of us"; yet more apps that could very reasonably be used with either and Exchange account or the open standards iCloud close sourced and replaced only would work with an iCloud account. Apple, the list of third parties we want to keep out data private from includes you, and when you impose policies that require us to go through workarounds like zero MFA vs forced MFA where the second, third factor, that just "happen" to be beneficial to you, you are not increasing anybody's security. But you know this, so… I haven't spent any money in Apple's products and services in so long, if Apple doesn't change ways by the time my remaining devices die there won't be going back for sure. It already had felt like that since Mojave.
