Absolute trash. The app doesn’t let me remove an existing home that lost connection with my accessories
Seems like I’m not the only one with the home app giving me trouble. Apple products are great until they aren’t. My home pod seems to have a mine of its own and when I try controlling it through the app it’s no use so I just have to do everything manually which I don’t mind but the home app offers the convince to avoid that but it doesn’t work.
I’ve been letting my phone “load scenes and accessories” for a whole hour. It should NOT take that long. I even deleted and reloaded the app and it STILL refuses to “load”. Very annoying.
Apple is going to hand away the smart device market. The Home app has a nice look, andI like using it when I began to, with iHome devices. Then, iHome gave in (while I could still use the plugs, but only with HomeKit). Next, Apple expected me to purchase a device – Apple TV or HomePod – to control my house with an "improved" system. Well, I cannot connect my cameras, I cannot connect my Alexa speakers, and I cannot connect any smart devices that I own except those iHome plugs. Plus, the reviews for HomePod and AppleTV devices aren't good. So what for? I made my choice, despite being a Mac user from the 1990s to today, despite being thrilled when I got an iPod touch as a gift, despite loving my first iPhone; despite loving how my iCloud, Mac, iPhone, and Watch all work together. I'm not going to be using HomeKit until Apple stops being a snobby brat and learns how to play with the poor kids. Apple is willingly losing market share, and not only because they are more elitist now than ever before. Ever since my first Mac, they just won't die, unless I literally drown them. They are well designed and worth what I pay for them. They go out of upgrade before they die. (Like anything, if you actually take decent care of them.) But, there are many of the products – smart home stuff – that just isn't as good as your prices, and your chosen vendors' prices, demand. Don't Macintosh my smart device choices, Apple. Don't brag about quality while you're getting 10% of the market, don't repeat that sour approach – even though you have the bucks to cushion the elitism now. Smart homes should be akin to the internet: available to everyone. You're the only provider that snubs its nose at people who don't want to pay a premium for a darn color light bulb and a video doorbell. So yeah, the Home app WAS great. Now it's just taking up space on the Apple devices I do want to use.
But it never helped me
1 star for this horrible app. 50% of the time, the app fails to recognize Nanoleaf lights. Nanoleaf and Home are both junk!
Apple HomeKit is a good Home app
Since going to release 18, I’ve had nothing but issues with this app… Will not recognize 3rd party devices, always states an item is in a “No Response” state. All work on their native apps but if it states it works with HomeKit, and it has previously… it should still work.
For years I had Kasa by tp-link switched plugs working perfectly in my Kasa app on my phone. Did EXACTLY what I wanted. Over 15 devices between switches, blocks and power strips. I had to change the WiFi password and when I did I had to reset the Kasa devices. NOW because these are “Home capable” they have to go to the iHome app which I refuse to run!
